Default Atco Gas Meter Replacement ?

I have been hounded by phone calls saying I'm required to upgrade my Atco Gas meter for quite some time now. I don't really feel like scheduling this and being home all day and bothering with it, so I haven't done it. Does this benefit me in anyway to actually do it ? or can I just keep ignoring them when they call ?

Is your gas meter on the inside or outside?

If it's on the inside, the benefit is to never having to let them into your home again, and not having to report your usage and such. It's all wireless nowadays with those things. If it's outside....well then no real benefit to you, but they could prolly do it while you are away I would presume.

Couldn't you just dress like an ATCO employee, go down to their HQ, walk in and remove yourself from their database?

They've been hounding me as well by leaving messages and sending me notices in the mail lol. Apparently it's some government mandated upgrade or something since the meter is getting to a certain age. Mine's located outside so if I don't schedule an appointment soon they will probably just replace it anyway. I think they want you to schedule a time so they can help relight your pilots. From what I understand they have to shut off your gas to do this work.

My meter is on the outside but I think they have to come inside to check all the gas connections etc. Which seems like a lot of hassle. It's at the point now where I am actually curious to see how long I can go before they stop hounding me

Why is it such a big deal, they moved ours from inside to outside with not much inconvenience to us. They didn't even glance at any of the interior gas piping in our home and they relit all the affected appliances/pilot lights.
    Will fuck off, again.

I suppose it's not that big of a deal, just curious as to if it has any benefit or not

Make sure you're around when they are supposed to come or they will just cut your gas line, screw a cap on and leave lol
