    Default Macbook or Samsung Laptop?

I have had a Macbook Pro 1.7 for the last 5 years and I would like purchase a new one in the next little bit. This Macbook has been awesome and never has never let me down. The battery life is starting to crap out so I think Im gonna pass it along to my wife.

I recently switched from an iphone to a Samsung S5 and am super happy about the switch. I am wondering if I should switch my laptop brand as well.

Any keeners out there in the Laptop world, what would you recommend?

I don't know about a Samsung laptop...that's just brand preference..could be any laptop with Windows. My buddy just got the Dell XPS 13, worlds thinnest laptop right now I believe. It's pretty slick

Nice, never even heard of this. I'll have to do some reading. I guess I am not limited to Mac or Samsung and am open to any recommendations. Thanks!

How can anyone point you in the right direction without first knowing what you use your computer for on a daily basis? You buy a computer for your personal use and the software. PC or an Apple product, it's all about the software, screen size and weight these days. Do you travel with your laptop? Do you need a retina screen? What size screen are you comfortable with? What is your budget? For some, a tablet is all they need.

Moving all your files from the Apple laptop to a PC will be a pain in the ass. Buy another Apple laptop and you are up and running problem free in less than an hour.

I'm in the market for something exactly like this but was originally shying away from Dell because I remember them packing all kinds of garbage dell software on their machines. Do they still do this?

Since I was there the moment my buddy turned it on, the only thing he uninstalled was McAfee Secure Scan (not a full AV install). Other then that it's pretty bare, some Dell utilities for driver updates and stuff but that's all there was.

Here is an article comparing the XPS13 to the new MacBook pro announced just a few days ago

    http://www.itworld.com/article/28945...ls-xps-13.html

In summary, XPS has a bigger screen (13.3 vs 12) (although a bit thicker and heavier), better res screen (3200 x 1800 vs 2,304 x 1,440), better graphics, better processor, and has touch capability. Depending on what you looking for XPS is a big competitor in this ultrabook field

It really comes down to what Operating System you want to run. Pick and choose from there.

(technically you can pretty much run any OS on each type of laptop but with a ton of work to make it happen)

I am in the market and eyeing the XPS. It seems to be the best ultrabook out there right now. That screen too!

    Lol, seems relevant:

Seriously though, as much as I haven't been a Dell fan in the past, the XPS13 or something from Asus or Lenovo would be my top picks.

XPS 13 is nice but it doesn't flip all the way around like the Lenovo Yoga 3. 360 degree flip is a great feature for casual use as a tablet and watching youtube or netflix. Makes the screen feel bigger because it's a couple inches closer without the keyboard in the way.

I think that's a personal preference thing. I don't like the Yoga design, or any laptop that flips all the way back..it's so weird having your keyboard on the bottom of a device...I feel like I will rip the buttons out accidentally.

May want to consider this too -> http://www.asus.com/ca-en/Notebooks_...03LN/overview/

If you need it for more business oriented tasks, check out the HP Ultrabook Folio 9480M

So porn, email and word docs eh. Any computer would do that really, so up to you. We have 12 inch laptops at work and they are pretty painful to use for word processing. If you don't need the extreme portability get something in the 13+ range.

I vote Surface Pro 3 number one. I honestly can't think of any real reason to choose a high end laptop vs. the Surface after MS went with the 12" form factor.

The Dell is pretty awesome too because the tiny bezel allows a larger screen in a smaller form factor.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

I've had the new XPS 13 for about a month now and i love it. I got the i5/4GB ram/128GB ssd/non-touchscreen that the MS store had on for 899. Used a student discount so in total paid 810 + tax. Not sure if they still have it that cheap but would highly recommend the laptop either way
