    Default Twitch (website)

    Has anyone seen this before?

This website is crazy, I don't understand it. You stream yourself playing video games or poker or whatever you wish.

There is some people making some crazy money from this for just playing a game.

There is a female named "legendaryLea" her acct can be found here: http://www.twitch.tv/legendarylea

She has easily cleared 150k just playing a game, this makes so sense to me why do people donate? Is this slightly creepy?

This is exploding pretty hard in the poker world right now and I guess some of the guys are making at least 100k+ a year off of it now. Has anyone streamed on here? Does anyone use this website?

It's free to use and view as well...

    The website is www.twitch.tv

Used it once to watch some guy play Elite Dangerous. Asked a few questions about it in the "integrated" chat room.

    Immediately bought the game after.

creepy internet nerds love paying money to girls on camera?

I find there are some good twitch streamers, that basically are narrating what and why they are going something during a stream, and they are used for tutorials/etc.

    Others, I have no idea.

Weird what people pay for now a days. I mean, if you can make a buck off it, why not exploit it? I could see a valid use for it, if you were reviewing things like video games and stuff like that though.

I did pop in the check on "Fish plays Pokemon" once in a while just to see how far it got for a bit hahahaha

In Korea, women make money by filming themselves eating food. Lonely guys tune in to watch and "eat with them" cause it makes them feel like they're on a date with them. I'm serious too haha

You guys do understand that competitive gaming is a thing... right?

Twitch is a much better way to monetize the system compared to youtube. Also, where have you been? Twitch has been around forever

Some video games I find I either 1) suck at or 2) have no interest in playing. If I'm bored, it's no different than watching *insert TV show here*. I also like to preview a game before buying, screw reviews in magazines/websites.

I don't understand streams that include video of the person themselves actually playing/talking though. That makes no sense.

Are you getting hung up on the individuals themselves that stream? I don't quite understand your confusion about the site

I watch a lot of twitch. A lot of people are donating to famous streamers (some current utubers) to get their own name out.

Im with Hitempguy - Whats the problem here? Get with the times. Competitive gaming is entertaining and a booming industry.

Its basically a podcast with gaming, podcasts are popular, and so is this. A lot of these people are doing this full time, so the donations are the only way they can keep doing it.

I myself have donated. A lot of it is way more entertaining than anything cable can supply me, so I would rather spend my money helping the streamer.

More money = more entertainment for me.

The more popular streamers are practically celebrities to the people who follow them. Some of these guys have thousands of subs, look up Sodapoppin, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes 200k+ a year.

I use twitch to watch a bunch. Nice to see a new game before you buy and since the Xbox has it built in, you can view the popular streams from right in the digital game store. I haven't done much in the way of streaming though.

I guess the popular ones are more like myfreecams

I think the people that do lets plays on youtube make a ton also if they are popular like pewdiepie who was even on southpark.

Pewpewdie is an interesting individual. I watched a youtube analysis on how/why he was famous.

It really has very little to do with the actual content. Youtube is a game that you can max/min. He figured it out before others did. He also has universal appeal between males and females.

People like HuskyStarcraft and Day9 are celebrities in the geek world, they are swamped at places like PAX and Comic-Cons if they show up.

I dub them "micro" celebrities. Famous within their own culture, but unknown outside of it.

I also watch a lot of twitch but never subscribed to anyone.
I have known twitch for the longest time since it actually started. It's actually nice to see streaming games before you get the game itself; that's what I do. I just want to see how the game is played first and if it interests me, I might get the game.

I am amazed on how people actually live just by streaming their game. I use twitch as I play CS:GO competitively and watch CS:GO events there. The donations I've seen the highest is summit1g's (http://www.twitch.tv/summit1g/profile). $20k. Apparently it's authentic and he has a video in youtube somewhere.

Anyway, this is what gaming has been lately. You will see people subscribing to CS:GO female players because, no, they are not good in playing the game at all, but they just want to see them streaming, and talk to them via chat. lol.
