Played a bit tonight, holy hell the driving dynamics is finally awesome again. Back to F1 2010 levels of driving feel and feedback, and no more understeer! It's like they've geared this towards steering wheels and not controllers like 2011 to 2014. The oversteer with the throttle is perfect, you can really push the car out of corners and find the limits of adhesion on the rear tires using the throttle, and when you go over the oversteer can be caught (unlike 2010). Took a bit to get my concentration level up to F1 speeds but I was driving at the limits of the default setups within 10 laps.

I'm a little bitter about Fanatec, but they're the only real option once you've used one. I got suckered into buying the dead end CSR Elite setup, so I'm a little pissed that I fell for the whole limited edition marketing crap. I should've known better.
Anyways, if you have a CSW Base V1 or the new V2, it's literally the same as the old setups such as my CSR Elite. The whole base is identical, the settings are identical, and from my tests last night in the highest FFB mode, it feels identical in that it has enough torque to fuck up your fingers in a crash. The changes are mostly internal according to Fanatec, better cooling, better reliability, but who the fuck knows.
I threw it in PS3 mode, fired up GT5, and ran the ring with both wheels. It feels the fucking same. Just paid $$$$$ to get XB1 compatibility.
Anyways, there are some big differences though when using the XB One Universal Hub...
1. CSR Elite was wireless against the XB360. XB1 Universal Hub requires USB. Just like the CSR Elite, USB extension cords do not really work at all. You need to use a CAT5 USB extender for it to work. Why? I dunno.
2. There is no Audio port with the CSW Base design. Since the compatibility is keyed to the wheel, there is no way you can connect a headset to the wheel even if it had a port (it doesn't). The CSW Base doesn't have an audio port too. I'm guessing you have to fire up a standard controller for multiplayer audio.
3. There is no XB360 compatibility at all. There is no Fanatec wheel or base that supports it, so I guess I have to give up 360 gaming at this stage. Not a huge deal, the new F1 game pretty much covers the only thing left on the 360 side (F1 2010).
With that being said, any of you PS4ers or PC Master Racists want to buy my CSR Elite Wheel? It supports PC, PS3, PS4, XB360. You just need to get pedals for it.

Cool, i have been hearing the same about the G27 G92 ( or G920 for that matter) comparos. Doesnt seem like they added anything but compatibility to the new wheels.
I still cant wait for my 920 to ship, and considering i have never owned a FFB wheel im sure i will be happy with it.
Now i need the wife to let me put a playseat in the basement hahaha

Yea, oversteer in F1 2010 was nearly undrivable. You can figure out where the limits are if you stay on line, but once you go over that limit, you can rarely catch it, even in slow corners. Really kills the flow when you're passing where your lines are different and throttle application is just a little bit different. No such thing in F1 2015, I ran a 50% race distance in Canada, and didn't spin once. Caught every single slide out of slow corners. High speed oversteer is still tough, but that's normal. Going to start upping the AI level and messing with setups to see if I can get competitive in the toughest setting.Originally posted by Cos
and this is the reason I still play 2010 after all this time. Maybe time to upgrade. Happy to hear about the over-steer since that was almost always my toughest spot.
Let me know if you want to give it a try.
Yea, it's a whole new ballgame compared to racing with a controller.Originally posted by killramos

When I reno'd the basement, I made sure there was ample storage space for the whole playseat setup haha.

With the XBOX 1 compatibility, Im guessing you are really limited for wheelselection from fanatec? Ie. no F1 style wheel?

The way the XB1 wheel works is that it's just the shifters and electronics. You can attach any wheel you want from Fanatec (about 8 to choose from) or a real life steering wheel from say Momo. It uses standard sizes. The buttons are all adjustable to clear different steering wheels.
I ordered with the F1 style wheel. See above.

Boo. I'm also disappointed the new logitech seems to be nicer for the PS4 than the xbox (shift lights, more dial options) but the same MSRP

I think it has alot to do with the Original Xbox Accessory program being much more controlling than PS ( which tbh is a good thing because getting shit to work properly with a PS is a huge PIA). I figure the xbox spec just plain doesn't support those functions so they left them off the wheel.Originally posted by cycosis
