Default Nissan releases 'enthusiasts' edition 370Z -- $30k

Despite being into it's 7th model year, it should give the FRS and BRZ (and Veloster ) a good run for the money.

    http://driving.ca/nissan/370z/auto-n...0000-in-canada

Nissan has trimmed the 370Z’s starting price in Canada by $10,000.

That’s right: for 2016, a base Nissan 370Z will set you back a hair under $30,000 – $29,998, to be exact. Not only is that on par with U.S. pricing, but based on today’s exchange rate, the Canadian model actually works out to be cheaper.

The base 370Z coupe, now known as the Coupe Enthusiast Edition, comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels finished in black, HID headlights, automatic climate control, a cloth interior and Bluetooth connectivity.

Nissan’s 3.7-litre V6 is still under the hood, pumping out 332 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission is available, but buyers who prefer to row their own gears can opt for a six-speed manual with available rev-matching technology – just in case you mess up those perfectly-timed downshifts.

If you’re looking for more performance, Nissan is offering up the 2016 370Z NISMO for $47,998, while the open-top 370Z roadster starts at $49,498 for 2016.

For comparison’s sake, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe starts at $29,499, while the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ retail for $26,670 and $27,395, respectively.

It may be a 7 year old platform, but that's a pretty sweet price for that car!

Agreed, it was one of my favorite cars at the show.
This is exciting news. I wonder if you can add a Track Pack to this base model and get it out the door for under $40,000.00.

Sucha deal. A great performing car for the price of a Hyundai Genisis, plus the 370 will actually be worth something in a few years.

Isn't the reason for such a price drop because it's not a very good car. Is it any better than Genesis in any way?

Have you driven, or even sat in both of them?

I have, and the only thing the Genesis has going for it is it's very cheap to make into a fast car (if you have the 2.0T). For the same money, the nissan is way more car, no question.

I wonder what is going to get stripped out for the enthusiast edition?

I wonder if it will end up with no a/c, no power locks or windows, no power seats, very minimal (or maybe no?) radio, no traction control, etc.

On that note ... I wonder if they actually do a 'base' stripped down version how much weight would be shed?

I am pumped about this, would rather one of these vs a Ford Focus RS (considering the $10k price difference), however... you guys do know these are 2 seaters only right?

While that is fine for me, being realistic, that is NOT fine for 95% of the population. Even cars like the Mustang and Camaro have "token" back seats that if you REALLY need to you can squeeze people into.

This car doesn't even give you a choice. However, the base only weighs 3200lbs which is really friggin good in this day and age.

Also, the VQ motors LOVE TEH BOOSTS. 500whp with bolt on turbo kits is fairly easy, and the transmission is supposed to hold up.

As soon as I started reading your post all I could think of was "so much weight reduction!" haha

TBH, no A/C, no power locks/windows would probably be deal breakers for me. IDGAF about power seats or traction control, mine's off most of the time anyways. Big thing for me would be whether or not it has an LSD.

That is a lot of car for the money. I've always found the 370Z's to be a decent car, but overpriced for what you get. This is a smoking deal.

Yup. I was really surprised when I drove one. I loved it, and I didn't understand the relative distaste for it on Beyond. Power, handling and interior were all great, the major problem was price.

EDIT: The fact that the VQ is a proven platform for mods also shouldn't be understated.

Maybe I'll go for a test drive this weekend and see if it's still the car I remember.

This sucks bigtime for guys who bought one this year, or are trying to sell one (like the one in our marketplace haha). You gotta think it's going to drive the price of used ones way down.
