    Default Favorite Banks

Been with Scotiabank my whole life and no other banks. Wanting to open up an account with a new bank, and get an account together with the old lady. Figured it would be a good idea to have a history with a different bank.

Any banks stand out above the rest as the better bank to deal with? Any favorites? All the same?

PC Financial, no fees, free cheques and earn point towards stuff from their store. Only suckers pay the bank to hold their money.

I've been with BMO for about 15 years. No complaints at all, and a good atm network... safeway, stampede, soon will be at most shells

I'm pretty happy with my RBC VIP banking package.
Three Canadian dollar accounts, One USD account, Two RBC Infinite Avion Visas. A couple investment accounts, and an unsecured LOC.
Good website, free Email money transfers, free cheques. Have zero hassles with them.

There is a fee, and it's not super low, but it's the only banking fee I pay ever, so that's nice.

Extremely happy with RBC. I've had two mortgages, business account, personal account, biz and pers Visa's...the RBC Avion is an awesome rewards program. I was with BMO before I switched and was glad to have done so. CIBC many years before that.

RBC, no fee my whole life. Unlimited ATM transaction but have to pay for everything else.

    Have TD as secondary account.

IMO TD and RBC should be one of your account for accessibility reasons. Their ATMs are much easier to find when you are travelling.

fuck BMO, dont even know why i am still with them. scotia has always treated me great though. i'd go into detail of why i hate BMO (even though i've been with them for 15+ years)... but there is no way in hell i can explain it without humble bragging

    I like The Spank.

Also CIBC. Over the years I've tried BMO and RBC, but neither seemed to have as good of service as I get there. RBC especially pissed me off when we had our first mortgage through them, and refused to give us any kind of deal upon renewal time. Even after showing them better rates that pretty much EVERY other financial institute was offering.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

I have a deep hatred with RBC with some of the things they've done to the wife since we've met. She's been with them he the whole life and they don't seem to give a shit about your loyalty and will fuck you in the ass at any given chance.

I've got nothing but good things to say about Scotia. Just figured I should deal with another bank as well. Thinking about doing the PC financial thing. No fees sound pretty sweet. Then I can knock my other accounts to bare minimum with Scotiabank. (I'm all about saving a few bucks and getting out of debt lately... Got to get myself a house someday).

ATB financial. Also bias because i work there but coming from a long time PC financial and Bmo customer, I find the small business packages work better for our family.

I don't think I am that high, but I use PC financial too, and I figure we get about $600 year in groceries, which sure as hell beats paying $13/month for the same services from Scotia.

Life-long Scotia user. At my first branch, service was complete shit. No one liked their job and people were incompetent. Then I moved branches to Brentwood and the difference was night and day. I now am settled at the branch in Bridgeland and I couldn't be happier. Staff are awesome and it's a small place, people know me and feels welcoming.

Servus Credit Union - small number of physical branches, but part of the credit union network (can bank at First Calgary locations). Have personal and business accounts with them. Love the profit sharing and their initiatives and community involvement. It's more of "personalized" banking feel.
