    Default Does this appliance exist?

    A "reverse" fridge/freezer?

We need a lot more freezer space, but could also use a little extra refrigerator space as well. Instead of having to buy a stand up freezer, and then a separate small beer fridge, is there such a thing as the reverse of a normal fridge, where most of it is freezer space, but then has a small compartment for the fridge?

Wouldn't it make more sense to just have a 100% fridge ( i think these exist?) and a second deep freeze?

If you are going to have 2 appliances anyways.

Take a walk around trail,, if it exists it will be there.

It would if I had space for both in our kitchen. Most people keep their deep freeze in their basement, garage, etc. because it doesn't have daily used stuff in it. However it would be nice to have room for a couple of cases of beer in there too.

yeah, we have a 100% fridge int he kitchen and a matching deep freeze in the garage. works okay, but kind of a pain in the ass for things like ice cubes

Am i misunderstanding you that you want a supplement to what you currently have? Current fridge/freezer and another Fridge/freezer with different proportions? Because that's still 2 appliances.

For example if you have room for 2 fridge sized appliances wouldn't getting a 100% refrigerator and a 100% Freezer work? ( getting rid of current appliance is implied)

I'm not trying to be a smartass im just trying to understand your issue.

Maybe just getting a bigger fridge would work?

We replaced our 2 door fridge/freezer with this guy, and couldn't be happier:

    http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/h...RF28HMEDBSR/AA

Just like you, we needed way more freezer space (got about 2x more, feels like 3x more due to layout), a little more fridge space (30% more), and a dedicated drinks fridge. The drinks tray on this guy is better than any drinks fridge. Chilled beer at -1C on the verge of icing up is amazing.

The freezer space is so much bigger, we haven't had to put stuff in our basement deep freeze since we got it.

Rage that is a killer fridge!

It sounds like to tik tok wants an inverse of the typical fridge (more freezer than fridge) because he needs more freezer space and a bit more fridge space. So he'd like to buy just 1 new applicaiance.

He doesn't want to buy a solo fridge and a solo freezer. That would be less convient and requires buying 2 new appliances.

Is that correct, or am I out to lunch?
If so, I haven't seen an inverse fridge. It suspect it does exist, would be a nice unit.

    That's exactly right.

As Erchry said, I don't want to go down to the basement just to get ice-cubes, or whatever other daily used freezer item (frozen veg. ice cream etc.)

It would store game/meat/deadhookers long term, but like I said, it would be nice to be able to store some drinks in there too (so I don't have to go upstairs to get them )

Do you have extra cabinet space in your kitchen? What about a built in freezer drawer?

thats what i was thinking, but those are money... also sounds like it might be the spare "fridge" for the basement?

Nope. We went to having a tiny TINY 1950's bungelow kitchen, to a recent renovation where we have exactly as much space as we need now. Well, a little more room than we need, but not enough space for a built-in.

Besides, that wouldn't help with wanting extra fridge space.

its the very fancy expensive route... but basically you'd get a pair for freezer cabinets, and single fridge one, and/or a actual built in drinks fridge... probably over $10k once its all retro fitted

Hah, yeah, definitely not, even if we had the space.

I was looking at $500 upright freezers when the thought came to me about having extra beer space.

or you have a standard fridge PLUS a single freezer drawer... you can get some that are stand alone units too... but then you are back to two appliances anyways

Had the same one in my old place. Worked REALLY well with the bevi drawer. Was great for kids too as its closer to the floor and easy to open and close. Made the "Dad im thirsty" turn into "Kid get dad a beer"

I have the same fridge as rage. Somehow my life is more complete now.

It's a great fridge in all seriousness. Had the kitchenaid version of the same idea before it and found that the water filter and ice maker took up a significant amount of your fridge space. On the Samsung the water filter is down between the drawers and the ice maker is like half the size (mixed blessing of you're having a party)

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Tik-Tok... there isn't a fridge out there that I am aware of that is the reverse of a standard fridge where 1/3 capacity is dedicated to fridge and 2/3 to freezer...

You can get a 'convertible' all-fridge/freezer unit that will function as either or... but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

    http://www.frigidaire.ca/Kitchen/Fre...tible-Freezer/

As suggested, there are under counter fridge/freezer options, but those cost a few bucks too...

I had the opposite issue in our kitchen, needed more fridge space, so put in a built-in beverage centre and moved all the drinks, water bottles, etc into there and freed up the main fridge.
