Default Out of Province Inspection - THE place to go

So after days of scouring this forum I decided to join and let you know what people are charging and THE ONE place to go...

Lot of old threads here about OPI krammer, knubble, kaltire, etc

Krammer now charges 180-no longer $80 as one thread said
knubble charges 170 - no longer $100 as another thread said
    kaltire charges over 200...
    oktire is 180
and Ctire is still on my list of DO NOT GO to

The one place to go to is inspectacar $120 and the coolest fucking dude ever. He passed my AMG on short noticed and we talked cars and bikes while he was working. Super cool guy, fast, and easy to deal with. Trust me, go to him.

So hopefully this saves the headache that people like me had to go through...I heard this about this company through a coworker who just moved here. Fuck and I thought I knew Calgary and I've lived here my entire life!

Yeah I went to "The Right Price" auto, and was quite happy as well. They couldn't pass my other truck due to a few issues that you simply couldn't turn a blind eye on, but at $75/hr shop rate it didnt cost much at all to have the issues rectified and to have AB plates on it. Cost me $150 for the inspection as well. I really like that place, the mechanics are awesome and really know their shit. Besides, like I say at $75/hr why not?

I agree, Crappy tire is absolutely brutal. Good to know of the other places as well.
    Great thread!

It's getting harder & harder to find shops that will turn a blind eye to minor stuff like that

I got one done at the Blaskin & Lane on 17th. They were thorough, honest, and didn't over torque my wheel nuts when they were done!

My C63 did have a minor things with it. Just tires, but I was putting on winter tires on anyways so he understood.

Can't blame the tires really though...with 451hp and 440tourque it's hard to keep them alive haha

I called them mon and he got me in 1st thing tues morning. No bullshit "you have to wait" shit. They understood it doesn't take too long and slid me in. The cool part was he let me watch what he was doing.

Just too bad he doesn't have his bike license...I would bring my racebikes from cali up here if he could.

I'd recommend Beyond Transmission (formerly Ram's Transmission) on 17th Ave SE. They've been mentioned on beyond before and for good reason. Good price, quick turn-around, and their objective is only to make sure the vehicle is safe to drive, not to waste your time/money fixing stupid minor things.

    Thread bump

Friend of mine needs his 03 Mustang to go through an OOP. Car is mechanically fine but has some aftermarket bolt ons, lowered and has tint. Where can he take it to get done that he won't have any issues?

    Pm if you want, thanks!

Right Price Auto did my Evo for 90$ + taxes. They were very reasonable and friendly about it. Place looks semi sketchy as its in Forest lawn but they we're good to deal with. Was able to get it booked in 2 days later.

Way back in 2010 when I had my old red turbo Civic, I had Right Price do my OOP. Would recommend for modified cars as they are only concerned with road safety issues.

Are most OOP shops sticky on mods? I'm looking at a heavily modded Z06 that would need to go through RIV and OOP.

Nice independent inspection place. They don't do any work so you aren't likely to get cited for random repairs you don't need.

RIV can only go through select shops. Mainly canadian tire locations.

    riv.ca
Vehicles that have been modified from their original state, other than regular maintenance, may not be eligible for importation into Canada. For example, a van transformed into a motorhome (often known as Class B motorhome), a van equipped with raised roof and/or modified interior, a pick-up or a passenger car equipped with lift kit, a motorcycle converted to a motor tricycle (trike), etc. This also applies to Canadian vehicles modified in the U.S. and returning to Canada.

I'd think you'd be better off to just bring it in and keep your mouth shut with regards to any mods. Fingers crossed! That would really suck to purchase a USA vehicle only to have to convert it back to stock to pass

Yeah, I was hoping someone had experience with one RIV location being more reasonable than the others, but didn't want to start a new thread. The vehicle isn't converted to anything as per the text you pasted, but does have some pretty obvious mods.

It has the usual stuff like tinted windows, minor drop, exhaust, cat delete, tinted taillight and signal lenses, etc. which might slip by an unobservant or generous inspector, but the roll bar and blower would be reasonably obvious to anyone. I've only imported old non-RIV stuff so I have no idea if RIV cares about this stuff or not.

Just moved here from the states...going over the list for the OOP inspection, I'm missing a TON of stuff. Any chance someone will approve my 91 MR2?
    Here's what's going on:

    No DRL
No neutral clutch safety switch (I rewired it to use as a killswitch)
No airbag (quick release steering wheel)
    Aftermarket hubcentric wheel spacers
    Lowered
    No CAT
    Open dump pipe
    Aftermarket ECU
    Oil leak (does not drip)
No washer fluid (reservoir has been deleted)
Aftermarket fuel lines/regulator/filter (AN lines visible in engine bay)
    No high beams

I've heard they're easier on older cars...and none of those really affect safety, the car is plenty safe to drive.

Do I have a chance with any shop?

I think the air bags and washer fluid will be the problem as those are safety items. Airbags if you ever get in an accident is definitely a safety concern and the washer fluid is a visibility thing incase someone his a puddle and coats your windshield in mud and you can't get it off with the wipers
