    Default Best bluetooth speaker?

So I recently picked up a Cambridge Bluetone 100, and was told by the dude from Visions that it had a 15 hour battery, when in fact it has none.

Should have known better, as it was a 100watt speaker and no reference online made mention... but it was by far and away the best sounding BT speaker they had.

Unfortunately it doesn't suit my use case... I want something I can use in the back yard, at the lake and at the RV site... and this doens't work for me.

Sound wise? This thing rocks, its like 4 lbs (heavy) and blows away the UE Boom, Bayan, and other speakers they have there and is more comparable to the Sonus 2, and HK wireless home speakers, more than a portable bluetooth speaker.

anyways I'm going to look for the next best alternative, and I think I have it narrowed, but have yet to listen to:

UE Megaboom -- 20 hours battery, fully waterproof and apparently quite a balanced sound and can go "loud" with 360 sound dispersion

Beats Pill - very simular to the Megaboom with more bass, but I've heard is TOO bass heavy and perhaps sigle toned

Bose Soundlink 3 - I hear this is still very good, with good battery life... If its simular to the UE Megaboom, I'll go that dirction due to the "active lifestyle" design, but if this is better... I'll go th is way

Sony SRS 7X - crappy battery life, but I hear sounds really really good and is the cheapest @ $220

I'd love to try these others, but I don't think they're available in Cgy:
    JBL Charge 2
    Infinity One

    what is your take guys?

soundlink mini is amazing as well, but lacks the SPL (as does the Cambridge MINX Go V2)

I have JBL Charge 2. It's available in quite a few stores, all at the same price. I tested it in London Drugs and Bestbuy (both Westhills) and saw it at MemX. Key point was sounds a hell of a lot better than UE Boom and battery is pretty awesome so good for camping. Only downside I can think of is the exposed subs at the ends. Looks cool, but curious kids might get their fingers on it.

The Sony 5X was on sale at the time for the same price so I almost got it but internet reviews said the sound is reduced when not plugged in.

If I wasn't so cheap I would have gotten the Bose, hands down. Love that one, but Charge 2 savings were too great.

I would not get the Beats Pill. What I tested didn't sound great, unless you mean the huge one, and I've heard of vibration in those.

I have a Bose sound link 2. Battery is pretty good, it is a few years old and that is showing in the battery life, but I really like it. I bought it for my wife as a Christmas gift and it gets used everyday inside and out.

I also have a bose soundlink 2, and it works so well! The sound is truly amazing.

I would definitely support their speaker!

Pill XL seems like a good alternative... but it really is tough to beat the bose soundlink 3 as well..

I actually would go for the infinity one if its available here

need to do a proper compare between the 3

I think the Charge 2 is the best value for dollar

I have the beats pill and the bose soundlink 2. Bose is a lot better sound and gets louder. The battery in the pill doesn't last very long either.

I have the older UE Boombox and its quite good. Aux in, large easy to use vol, and has great sound. The only gripe i have with it is no track controls.

I have a jbl pulse, but I really like the Bose Soundlink 3 and Soundlink Mini. My next one will be one of those.

I've got the Sony 7X, and havent noticed any battery issues so far... That being said, I've only used it on battery while I'm outside doing yardwork, but it's lasted ~5-6 hours no problem. I also quite like the sound compared with others in the price segment.

I have the Klipsch KMC 3 but it's battery powered and not rechargeable. I've gotten 15 hrs of battery life when I was camping. I think it's a better bang for your buck compared to the listed. It does weigh around 7-8lbs though

same kind of options with the Beats as well... but I heard the life was more like 7-8 hours.

D cells can get expensive and the form factor may start to get a bit large...

the ueboom box may be a great option...

does the bluetooth aptx really make a difference?

Aptx does make a difference but I don't think it's a huge difference. I've gotten 15 hrs of run time because I never went pass half volume. It was a bargain at $200 on sale from future shop

Thats a tough one. After some super quick googling/my experiance i come up with:

    Megaboom:
    +size
    +waterpoof
    -hard to replace OEM rechargable
    -battery life is meh

    Boom Box:
    +Batterylife is a real world 15+ hours
+easy to replace battery if/when needed
    -Not water proof
    -size

All in all you would be happy with either i think.

i ended up with a soundlink 3 from a co-worker, which with a case he gave to me for a bill fifty...

that being said, I did try the bunch out at bestbuy, and its a flip of a coin IMO between the balance of sound between the Beat's XL, Megaboom and the SL3...

they didn't have the JBL charge 2 nor the Infinity One, which is the "cat's meow" right now.

Bose is missing usb connect and aptx... "I didn't know that", but being that I saved more than half the price for a couple month old bluetooth speaker, I'm not going to complain

Also... the Sony SRS5 and 7 both sound really good... I'd almost say even better than aforementioned, with the exception of the battery life
