    ^^^ what they both said...

Avoid going parallel to high voltage, helps prevent interference, but won't eliminate it entirely. If you can, 12" - 18" is the recommended distance between low voltage and high voltage. Using shielded cable (if you can get it) also helps.

    bumping from the dead

Moved into a new (to us) home a few months ago and looking to get a cable ran to my office as I hate wireless for gaming.

Anyone have any recommendations on who to contact/how much a drop roughly costs from any past experiences?

I realize I'll prob have to wait til covid times are over but just something that I'd like to get done.

Finished. There is a phone jack in my office already but don't believe it's cat 5, just unsure if it could be of any help with the pull. I'd be open to rearranging my home networking equipment but would need to see what is or isn't doable.

Half of our basement is finished but I wanted 2 lines ran from basement to main floor living room and 1 bedroom so they used the cold air ventilation to run the cables (plenum-rated Ethernet).
It was only 220$ for both. Most companies I called were quoting about 150$ per line.

I tipped them well as I called them on a Friday and they came in on Sunday

edit: I was almost tempted to buy MoCa adapters as well but it would cost as much as running ethernet and it would be more devices to manage and point of failure.

Interesting, thanks for the info and recommendation, I'll reach out to them and see what's doable.
