The nail in the coffin for me was reducing the amount of points earned in store, and jacking up the required redemption for the free car wash (this is all they were used for).

I only use Petro for lotto, or fuel when outside the city/ province, so just not worth it anymore.

Cashed in my remaining points yesterday and tossed the card.

1.6 points per $ isn't terrible for free points. I'm almost at 100k points, no clue what to use them for yet. Possible either the free car washes or just a gift card.

I don't even use Petro Points anymore now.

Shell had a decent thing going 15x air miles on gas so basically every 30L I got 15 air miles. 190miles = $20 cash. So basically spend $500ish on gas and get $20 which is really good give or take my marth 4% cash back.

But too bad that lasted for only 6 weeks i think. Now it's back to shitty 1 air mile at a time lol

I finally decided to cash my petro points in a couple months back, I had around 80,000+ points...

Couldn't find anything worth redeeming or anything that had value, was kinda choked... I just chose to donate all my points with their "donate to charity" or something.

Back when Petro had that gas shortage I started filling at Husky and noticed their point system had a lot more options and value so started using them instead of Petro.

Most recent thread on petro points, so thought I'd bump it.

I got petro points when I started my new job since I would be consuming more gas and a gas station just got built beside my house. I've already accumulated 30k points with just the card alone (the partners and CC don't interest me enough to get the bonus). Rewards kind of suck, but free and very effortless.
Are there ever any decent point spending promotions? or best to spend the points as I earn them - like every $20 worth?

There's that sale on the PetroCan wash card. I got 6 washes for 20k points + $20.

I just wanted to burn points.

I realized it after getting a pts card. Also found out their gas sucks...Shell 91 is better than Petro's Ultra 94 apparently. So now I'm sticking to Shell.

Their points rewards really started ducking years ago, this coupled with their shitty gas, I stopped collecting their lame points years ago. She'll gas all the way, esso #2.

petro points was good for coffee redemption, that's about it.

shell is okay with airmiles if they have the 15x air miles offer basically 15 airmiles per fillup vs the standard garbage 1 airmile (wtf)

Between the dream mile vs cash miles and all those BS, I stop collecting Air Miles.

Shell's Bronze gas is shit. V Power is great but Co-op basically got the same gas for 3 cents less then Shell and $1 off every $50 in store coupon + member rebate. Plus there isn't a lot of Shell stations any more in my daily routes, neighborhood Co-Op is fine.

Used both Petrocanada and Shell fairly equally over all the years I worked MWD, driving insane km every year. Over the course of about 6 years, I earned roughly 250k petro points, and about 5000 air miles.

I'm still getting 10c/l off my gas at petro for my personal fuel.
