    Default Compustar Removal

So purchased a used '11 Golf with a Compustar Pro 1-way 1WSHR system installed. Needless to say it's being difficult and not locking/turning off the car properly. I'd like to have it removed. I've located most of the wiring, antenna, relay and a ground in the engine bay. There seem to be two wires going to the ignition as well. Can I just disconnect all the harnesses from the compustar module and the car will revert back to stock alarm/keyless entry? Local shop wants 1 hour labour and $115 to remove it. Any help would be appreciated.

Try and see. If I recall correctly some of the wires for the ignition get cut and routed through the alarm, so if you just remove it there is a good chance the car won't start. There should be no harm in trying.

If you had the starter kill feature installed (usually a add-on), there will be a relay in between a cut starter wire.

remove the relay and join the factory wire back together.

Nothing else gets cut and routed through the alarm besides that.

Starter kill? When I turn the key to off the engine doesn't shutoff, I have to use the fob. I've read the user manual and it says the engine should shutoff within 10 sec after the last door is closed. Does not do that.

If there are no cut wires from the factory wiring harness, then just remove all the alarm wiring, and be on your way.
Make sure to remove the ignition bypass module if it has one installed as some of them have an actual car key stuffed inside them.

Looks like there were two wires in the steering column soldered into the compustar circuit, along with a parking light wire, everything else was just slaved in. There was another fob hidden under the drivers kick panel. Car works like stock now and gf is happy. Thanks for the help.

Bump - does anyone have an electrical expert they would recommend for compustar removal? I have a 2-way remote start in an 2006 lexus and it's causing some issues.

AutoTech can do it. Or they can probably fix it for around the same price.
