I bought a used CR-V that only came with 1 key, need to get another one cut and programmed.
Anyone on here work in parts at a dealer?

Hey baller, any problem money can solve is no problem at all. Don't sweat it.
Go to Partsource. I got my Prelude key done for about $50. This was at the Goddard NE location.

Do they program the chip inside the key, or do they copy the frequency from an original key? If it's the later, does it cause a problem when the battery dies in the key? Do you lose your programming?Originally posted by Ferio_vti

They clone the key, so the latter.
Far as I know there is no battery inside... I might be wrong.
I would imagine the chip inside the key uses passive RFID.
Where did you get information that it is battery operated?

My limited experience with the Honda parts counters tells me that T&T is pretty easy to deal with. I dealt with the young indian guy there, he was very good.
