There is currently a fathers day promotion from Sonos
    amazon, bestbuy, sonos store etc.

Doesn't make up for the price increases but it is something. If you buy a few, buy them one at a time and keep using the gift cards
Play:1 - $25 Gift card from wherever you buy it
Everything else - $50 gift card

Might pick up something to fill another room.

New integration for physical control of Sonos systems:

    http://www.businesswire.com/news/hom...ten-Music-Home

Ironically using the same Lutron bridge I picked up a few months ago for smart lighting. Pico controller can be wall mounted on used on its own to control volume and music from a Sonos system.

I'll definitely be installing a couple of these. I personally like being able to do control from a physical source rather than screwing with my phone to do everything.

A little pricey if you need to buy the bridge but if you already have one its not that bad!

Yea, I got that in my inbox this morning too. Still haven't jumped on the Sonos train yet, I'm using a combination of Airplay over TV/HT throughout the house, and this guy outside:

    https://www.ionaudio.com/products/de...-Rocker-iPA76A

While having an in wall remote is "neat", everyone in the house just uses their iDevices for choosing songs, and it's portable.

Honestly one of the biggest things is TouchID works maybe 30% of the time for me, so i am always putting in the password. Which for corporate policies is set for the password to be required every time. Its just a pain in the ass to open up my phone to click next on a song. between this and my last iPhone being slow as balls I am pretty jaded against the concept of using the iPhone for everything. They helped that with the home screen integration in the last update. But its nice to sometimes just have a simple button to use for guests etc.

Big help was adding it to harmony, which only works if you start the music up with the harmony in the first place. And I don't have harmony EVERYWHERE.

So overall, I have some blanks already in my wall. 50 bucks is pretty cheap for nice integrated physical controls for me.

I know a lot of people who are intimidated by having to use an iPhone to control everything. So there is value to this.

I also have never had any luck with any airplay device, most likely due to my wifi being crap. Sonos I have everything hardwired which works flawlessly.

Well all you had to do was ask.

TouchID, create 2 fingerprint profiles for each finger. It makes it 100x more accurate and unlocks every time, except if your fingers are wet. It's almost annoying how good it is now, because my press to wake always unlocks the damn phone now.

You can also swipe up to open the quick song changer thingy or whatever it's called and not even have to unlock your phone. Fuck guests, they don't get to decide the awesome music that I'm playing haha. All jokes aside, everyone uses airplay at my place and it just works, but ya, good wifi fixes that. I just tell Android guests to fuck off.

My problem with Sonos is the price. It gets ridiculously expensive especially if you want stereo coverage in each room.

Ill give that a try on the TouchID, never heard that trick.

Yea Sonos is pretty expensive. Probably too expensive. But I'm 2 feet in as it is so I consider myself committed. That aside its a 5 star system, great quality, great compatibility, great ease of use. I just need one more amp to perfect my setup ( for outdoor speakers which i haven't even installed though i have them roughed in). Probably set that up next spring when i actually buy a new patio set and can stomach using the back yard. I also am mostly using the Amps for my in ceiling speakers which makes stereo a non issue.

I have had particular success with Sonos as a gift to my parents. Nice simple white speakers to go on shelves in their living room, set them up with an apple music station on my account that plays the kind of stuff they like. and from there its one touch operation and works like an apple product. Prior to that they could never bother with any streaming or casting or any of that nonsense. Would rather just turn on the radio on their 25 year old kenwood receiver.

I like the addition of the Alexa support. I think I will pick up an echo next time I am in the US to give a try as then I can control nest and stuff as-well.

Hello. Welcome back to the sonos thread. Sonos finally upgraded the playbar with the ARC. Has atmos support (Compressed ARC, uncompressed [ie bluray ] requires a tv with eARC though), google assistant/alexa, more speakers for $999. Seems like a solid upgrade from the playbar for those who won't run a receiver based setup.
    https://www.sonos.com/en-ca/shop/arc.html
Also updated the Sonos 5 and Sub with revised hardware but similar designs but those didn't change in price.

They have been doing quite a few sales recently so you could probably piecemeal it in stages. I think a few weeks ago it was like a bundle of (2) One SL for like $300 or so and sub was also on sale.

My sister has one and the sound is pretty great. It is just that without releasing a smaller/less expensive sub, the pricing is pretty ridiculous being double that of the beam.

I have a sub. I like it. But it’s totally not worth it.

I think the smart thing with Sonos is knowing it’s limits.

You want bass? Use the connect and an amp.

I went HAM and went full sonos after selling my home theatre, got an arc, a gen 2 sub and two symfonisk for the living room, scored a clearout price at indigo for a sonos 1 for the kitchen, then got a symfonisk lamp for the bedroom. Then finally picked up a sonos move for the patio or bathroom lol. Currently love how seamless and tidy it is.
