    Default Recommend TV and size

Recommend me a TV and what size I should get.

Distance from wall to wall is 3.05m or 10ft

Wall mount it above the fireplace.

    Currently I have a Samsung led 240hz 1080p smart tv 60".

I suspect it's massive for the new space I moved my sofa closer in my current place I'm staring at it.

Is there an optimal size TV for viewing distance? Did that make sense? I know beyonders have all the answers.

Fit the biggest TV that will fit in the physical space. You'll adjust to the size very quickly. Make sure you tilt the TV downwards when you mount it above the fireplace.

Personally, I can't stand high mounted TV's, I'd do anything to reorganize and look for a different location, but I'm picky.

I have approx the same distance and use a 55". I would personally just keep using your 60". You will adjust within a day or two to the bigger feel.

Interesting. The wall above the fire place is 44"tall and 64" across. The TV is 31" and 52". It'll definitely cover all the space.

I was accustomed to the 4.8m wall to wall distance I have currently. Alright nothing but FWP lol

no kidding. this is like going to a movie theatre and choosing to sit on the front row every day for the rest of your TV viewing life.

Yup I'm not sure why people want to do this. Straining your neck like that to watch tv is just horrid.

TVs should be at or just above eye level for a comfortable viewing.

Even a 60" at 2m away was easy to adjust to.
Shouldn't be a problem for OP.

This is a 65" tv, symmetry makes the whole set up much easier on the eyes.

Cuz they like to kick back in their recliner , and if you recline those fully to level 4 unemployment then eye level would have you mounting the TV on the ceiling

I have a 48" about 6-7' from the couch. Just a hair too small, so I'd say 60-65 for your needs.

Also add my vote to the "do anything you can to avoid mounting above the fireplace" boat.

I've been trying to do 100" for 9' lol.
The only projectors with that short a throw are so expensive. I need to figure out how to get a mirror set-up

My buddy has something very similar. His crib had a fireplace with a large box for a big tube TV. We built out a frame in the back and mounted a 3/4 inch plywood covered in felt behind there. The TV is very high normally, but when you watch, it comes down to eye level and hangs in front of the fireplace. The only problem with this setup for folks who don't have the mount recessed like we did, is that it will be a rather thick mount for a thin tv

I agree on the symmetry part. When I did mine some 5 years ago now I didn't want to get a TV that was too much bugger then the fireplace surround. I also agree with people saying that above the fireplace is pretty high in most cases. When I moved in, I used to have a massive maple mantel that would have made the TV way too high, so I replaced it with this home made spacer instead. Looks alright I think. It's the first gen of those thin Samsung LED TVs, so it's really close to the wall like a picture frame, all my gear is in the av cabinet downstairs. It's a 46" tv in this case as it was the closest dimensions to my goal

That mount is awesome! $399 though! haha

Thanks for the tips guys. I will see how it goes. I tilted the TV down as per rage2 and what a world of difference. So simple!
