I haven't been using my power armour, trying to build up a power supply for when I actually need it.
Gun mods are useful. I have 1 gun for every ammo so far, shot gun and 10mm pistol are my most used. Also my .38 rifle is decent, i use it when i have excess ammo. Sniper rifle isn't powerful enough but the scope is super useful for planning attacks. I haven't used the energy guns much, don't really like them. Explosives are super useful if fucking codsworth doesn't get in the way.
I feel my sanctuary is overkill for my level and occupants. Should probably get back into story. I haven't even gone to diamond city yet I haven't actually done anything in the game but scavenger and build... it's just too fun.
1 thing I've learned is make use of the perks when leveling! I've wasted a few levels.

If you sprint/run, or use VATS, it does, but if you just casually walk around killing enemies it lasts for quite awhile. Good for clearing out buildings.Originally posted by Cos
I've used it only when I find one but mostly because I can't find enough cores. I find it runs out very quickly.
You can get perks that improve your fusion core usage as well.Originally posted by Tik-Tok

I had to use mine so far once to clear out the boss of the Forged raider building. Turns out I was way to low level to even be in that building lol... Thats the only time I used it.Originally posted by RX_EVOLV
Do you use your powerarmor for all the missions? I just used it at the very beginning mission with the minuteman and then just parked it at the sanctuary. Should I be using it for every mission if possible?
Sorry I got my missions mixed up. Not the ArcJet one. I was able to complete that one with Danse (thank God he's there), but I'm the Raiders in the Corvega Assembly Plant, the mission I got from the minuteman after they moved into the Sanctuary.... Maybe I'm too early for that?
Mine is the .45 cal combat rifle. I had about 1000 rounds of ammo for it so I modded it and stated using it. The hunting rifle with .308 is my sniper rifle. Also have a combat shotgun for super close range. I took the perk called rifleman to increase my damage with non automatic rifles. Working good. And yes gun mods are very powerful and a must do.Originally posted by BavarianBeast
What's everyone finding to be their main go-to gun?
I seem to be using the 10mm pistol and shotgun more than anything.
I'll bust out the laser rifle that Paladin Danse gives you at the start for the tougher enemies..
Any gun modifications worth getting right away?
This thread makes me worried about how sucked in I could get into this game. So far I'm only about 10 hours in and killed a bunch of bandits in a factory. Still getting used to all the workstations available.

Picked it up yesterday morning and have a solid 8 hours into it so far. Contemplated calling in for work today just to play it. I love it.
I'm about 20 hours into the game, just started building my sanctuaries figuring out how to attach wires to houses ftw lol, not sure if it is just a glitch in my game but when my suits power core gets low I can get out of it remove the fusion core and then enter it again, slam the core back in and it's back at 100%

Nonsense. You've all got slanty eyes, play Starcraft, speak Chinese and eat nothing but sushi and ginger beef.

I'm up to 38hours already...
I for the most part have been ignoring building and settlements but that has come to bite me as I'm at a point in the story where i need 32 surplus energy to power a piece of equipment in one of my settlements to continue on with the main story.
I also don't think I've gotten out of my power Armour in probably 15levels. Fusion cores are easy to come by. all science buildings/labs usually have 1 or 2 in them power machinery. Also the gun vendor in diamond city always seems to have 5 in stock to buy.
I really wish I could find my dog though, I sent him to sanctuary probably 20 levels ago when I had to change NPCs for a quest.
I'm lvl 37 now and just finally got my first .50 cal wepon(a crappy pipe rifle)
Dog meat should be in one of the dog houses in Sanctuary. I think there are 3 or 4 of them. They are in the backyards of houses.Originally posted by Crazyjoker77

^ love that channel.
I've been collecting a ton of fusion cores. I think I found a bunch in the northeast house. There's a access to a basement, anyone else find a bunch of cores in there?
I should probably just use my power armour and go do the factory clear out. I've been procrastinating that mission. I hope I can figure out how to modify my power armour, the station was glitching for me earlier.

I haven't used my power armour until now to save Valentine. It's pretty good in hauling stuff. I got to try that fusion core trick.
I've been using the ammo glitch for vendors! Best glitch for getting ammo, Stimpaks, weapons and gear without loosing a single bottle cap! Lol!

Same thing happened to me. I found him hanging out in a dog house in the back yard of one of the old homes. Check the backyards of all the places and look for him there.Originally posted by Crazyjoker77

Then remove the dog houses and put one in front of your main house and that's where he'll be whenever you send him back to Sanctuary
