I have a hard time believing Globefish ever served SFS.

Fair enough. It never occurred to me that *ANYWHERE* in Calgary would serve it, and it was pretty shocking to see it on the menu.Originally posted by KRyn

If it helps confirm that I was there, I recall that they had some very deluxe and inventive sushi. I likely would have gone back if not for the SFS.
Given the knowledge of SFS that was known even then, it seemed a bit willful and defiant that they even served it.
Given the surprise here, I guess I can only assume they dropped it.

Shark fin sushi maybe.. shark fin soup is a very chinese thing, not japanese.
You having been there doesn't have much credibility (with your name around this site )
I'm 99% sure that both Regency Palace and Silver Dragon server shark fin soup to this day. There's probably other places too.
edit: confirmed, see link first menu item

Acknowledged.
Perhaps you were too head banging to notice that many restaurants, even nominally ethnic restaurants, sell a few dishes from other cultures.
This is even truer when dealing with Asian food restaurants.
Could walk around the corner from my place and find two examples.
It strikes me as a flawed analysis to assume that someone would fabricate such an odd story. Particularly when the place is already famous for its roaches!Originally posted by jwslam

I meant the part that you're 100% sure they serve shark fin soup.Originally posted by Robin Goodfellow

Umm....Well, I guess I'm as sure as anyone could be - Unless, of course you're one of those folks that thinks that life is an ongoing hallucination or computer simulation.Originally posted by jwslam

Note that you have incorrectly used to present tense, however, whereas my encounter took place about 8 years ago.
I cannot say for sure what they do now, but expect they no longer serve this item.
If it's Sharkfin sushi, then that I could believe it. But 100% of the time whenever I see it on the menu, it's the fake stuff (i.e. gelatin). Yamato, when they were around, used to serve it. My wife liked it. Basically no sushi establishment is going to sell you real sharkfin sushi for $2-3 a piece.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!
