Default Nenshi's Approval Rating Goes Down

I guess everyone got there property tax notices. Still high though @ 57%.

    http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-...years-as-mayor

The purple glow appears dimmer than it’s ever been.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi, who has consistently garnered approval ratings in the 70s and 80s since he was first elected, now has 57 per cent of Calgarians saying they like the job he’s doing, a new Mainstreet Technologies poll states.

His lowest ratings since his 2010 election, while still in clear majority territory, signal that years of controversies — like budget and tax increase debates, bike lanes and development pressures — have taken their toll on the politician who has enjoyed an unusually long honeymoon period.

Using the extrapolative property, this should mean that he'll be at a 0% approval rating by the next election.

With any more bike lanes he'll be at 0% a bit quicker than that...

People getting sick of his antics finally?

    57% still pretty good.

It's the bike lanes. When property taxes go up people are mad on the day they find out. With bike lanes, people are mad every time they drive by and realize their life is being wasted for the benefit of a few bike nazis.

I am going to run in the next election, and my entire platform will be the removal of bike lanes.

If you genuinely believe you have the patience to deal with Druh Farrell, etc. I'll vote for you.

If a barrel of oil goes back up to $140, and gasoline goes to $2...

Then the bike lanes are going to start looking awfully appealing.

God, I was a cyclist commuter for years, not to mention a bike courier, but put a steering wheel in my hands, and the bike-lane-hate simmers.

    Also a factor, climate change.

If Calgary is going to get two weeks at each end of the summer (another month) of temperate weather, people might actually start to emerge from their toasty vehicles.

Timing could be rightish on this one IMO.

I know you're joking (I think anyway) but Rob Ford won Toronto largely on the idea of killing the "war against the car" that was going on. It wouldn't surprise me if a strong opponent in the next Muni election follows that same blueprint and wins. Assuming of course he's not a crack-head.

So you're saying it might be time to buy a convertible?

I lol when I heard the excuses on how this poll is bad.

End of the day, his stance on secondary suite is the reason which is what this poll is about. And if the questions start with secondary suites and ends with mayor approval, I am not surprised he gets a 57% which is still a very good number for a politician.
