Mini update to mine, Kitchen appliances are about 6-7 years old and washer/dryer is 4 years though that includes the previous owners.

    Bosch fridge review:
    1) The plastic water line started to leak last year but that's not the fridge itself. Replaced with a stainless braided line.
    2) The door sensor occasionally doesn't seem to register. I'll open the fridge and the inside light doesn't turn on. Just close the door and reopen it and it's fine. Only happens maybe once every month or two.
    3) Wifi still works solid, sends reminders to home assistant then to my phone if someone leaves the door or freezer open. Also remote notifications incase a power outage or temps start to fail

    Samsung dryer / washer:
    1) Wifi works pretty good, also sends home assistant push notifications for when laundry is done and reminders after set amount of time
    2) Had to repair the dryer due to a failed bearing on the belt loop, 30$ part
    3) Small plastic hinge on the lint tray cracked but it still functions fine and haven't had to replace it

    Bosch in-cabinet dishwasher:
    1) Wifi notifications work great
    2) Functionally no issues but it still annoys me it wants me to open it to vent the hot air out after it finishes its cycle. Wish it had some kind of vent as it's annoying if I start the dishwasher as I'm going to bed then it's beeping at 1am. Can avoid it by delay start but often forget

    Kitchenaid stovetop:
    1) Overall still works great, love the gas burners and easy to clean
    2) Minor issue but one of the burner, occasionally, will keep triggering the igniter every few minutes for a second or two. No idea why and it's only that burner but one I rarely use anyways
One year update since then, nothing has changed or broken since. Overall pretty happy with my setup.

You know, if particular Japanese companies got into large appliances I'd be all for it.

    Toyota, Zojirushi, Tiger...yes please.

I stayed at a condo in Canmore that had a Liebherr refrigerator in it. I thought that was weird as Hell. I have seen many many Liebherr cranes, but only one fridge.

The most expensive brands listed above are a lot more money than commercial units. Just buy one built for a restaurant, serviceable forever and made to be repairable.

Panasonic microwave: Purchased 2001, will probably survive to the heat death of the universe.
Lol, same. We just replaced ours bought the same year. Still worked fine, but was no longer white and had a nice UV yellow colour going on.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Sounds like switching to poverty ice would solve a lot of problems here.

Yes x1000. My next fridge will not have an ice maker, if I can swing it.

Isn't noise the main issue? And do they plug into a standard receptacle?

I’ve actually been looking for fridges with no ice maker and no water dispenser. Just so happens that you can get a model like that from SZ and Liebherr haha.

Yes, they would likely sound noisy in a quiet house. I never considered that, but my relatively new Maytag pretty much never shuts off so I thought it was noisy too.

The KA I got last year is very quiet. I've been very pleased with it from that POV.

Ours is the only white appliance left in the kitchen but it just refuses to die, and the quality is way worse on the new ones.

The easy check is the company name is Liebherr AG (Swiss version of "Ltd.") instead of Liebherr GmBH (German version of "Ltd.")

Swiss are just mountain Germans anyway.

I love my dishwasher but that's one feature I wish it had.
    My Miele does this.

It's worth the wait. I order mine during covid and it was over 12 months to get it. It was so long that the model I ordered was discontinued so I got upgraded for free.

The "cheap" version I got was $1,700 and it cleans way better than the Bosch 900 series I had in the last house.

We went with a seperate fridge and freezer. Keeps functions separate, but you need the room in your kitchen to accomodate.

That sounds incorrect (Volkswagen as a simple example) but I don't care. I just wanted to insult some Krauts.

Fair point, I may have been misled on the shorthand. (VW used to be named Volkswagenwerk GmbH) At any rate, Leibherr is definitely Swiss. HQ is in Bulle I think.
