Can you elaborate? Not saying you're wrong, just more curious than anything else.Originally posted by revelations
I can tell you as a former RCMP that some of that is BS.
The amount of times this has rung true for me is really surprising, i've totally changed how I interact with officers now. Admitting you're an idiot and expressing remorse can get you out of some serious shit...Originally posted by revelations
Depending on the nature of the stop, you are far likely to get a warning with saying, "yea I was an idiot and I totally blew that stop sign, sorry constable".
Essentially, if you act as a standoffish hard ass during a stop, cops are generally much more inclined to write you up (although sometimes, as mentioned, it makes no difference).Originally posted by Feruk

Buddy got caught going 190+ on Stoney, cop was travelling in the other direction, busted a U turn in the ditch and caught up to him.
Went to points, ended up paying $1-3k?? instead of a 2 week suspended license. Had to do drivers ED to reduce demerits..
Argument was police was travelling in opposite direction, something about the exact speed wasn't known etc etc.
OP, thought cops weren't allowed to travel past 150km/hr?
Curse you imageshack..

I think it was because of how absurd the situation was - he was literally right behind me, I'm doing the speed limit for like 5km or so, then all of a sudden a rolling burnout, bam to 200+ and back down to 80. And he even ended up having to chase me a km or so, lights and siren blaring, because i had no idea he was behind me until I went into a turn lane (straight piped V8+no mirrors = only what's ahead of me is important).
when he got out he was initially PISSED and he started off by saying 'how come you didn't pull over....why couldn't you see me.........hey, where are your mirrors?'
And I was like 'uhhhh, they fell off and are at the bodyshop being repainted?'
And then he had this 'oh for fvcks sake' look, told me cool car don't do that shit again and went back to his cruiser.
But karma balanced out because last year i got pulled over on Deerfoot doing like 103 (yes, 3 or 4km over the limit) because i passed a marked car (again, 3 or 4km over the limit) and he got all offended by that
So those are the only times I've ever been pulled over - doing around 150 over the limit and doing 4 over the limit
Whats the next part? The cop gave you 100$?

worst part is definitely when the dudes smacking it with his dick like that inside out anus owes his dick some money.
I think cops in Canada were a lot easier going in general up until the 2000's overall with stuff like "street racing" "stunting" "speed contest." No fun anymore.
To be fair, I had pretty much the exact same scenario as M.alex in my HPF M3. I was troubleshooting meth injection and went from 50 to 150 in a 50 zone in front of an unmarked cop. Pulled over right away, didn't lie, and got warned to watch out better.Originally posted by chkolny541

Yup. The spot at Metis is especially sneaky because not only are they hidden by the pillars, they also sit down in the ditch, well below the road surface. If there's traffic ahead you won't see them until you're pretty much on top of them. I've also seen the ghost truck sitting in the south ditch just after Metis, kind of up on the embankment so when you're travelling eastbound you don't see him until you've cleared the overpass. It's not uncommon to see cars pulled over both west and east of Metis at the same time.Originally posted by Thaco
they love to hide under the bridge at metis and at mcknight, they hide behind the pillars, you cant see them, but they can see you, they're there all the time, my wife drives that stretch every day and sees them at least once a week.
The overpasses mentioned are also popular for photo radar.
Last time I was in traffic court I was dinged by peace officers on H2 and had to go to the ponoka court. Even though the lineup was out the door, the judge was pretty specific; nobody is getting reductions in their speeding tickets/fines.Originally posted by legendboy
Hecklers welcome, I was going way to fast even though I felt it was a safe stretch of road.
Such a terrible feeling seeing the lights passing behind me in the shoulder lane. I just put my turn signal on and pulled over.
The cop was a hard ass although he did not tow my bike and allowed me to drive to work.
First thing I did was call Pointts and booked in with Charlie.
He has come thru for me in my late teens.
No tickets the last 15 years or so but I did lose my licence 3 times in my late teens 1 month, 6 month and 1 year.
Just looking for some feedback from fellow speeders as to what my best course of action is.
A guy from work told me to show up early to court (aug 20) and try and convince the cop to change the ticket to registered owner ticket and pay a big fine.
Charlie thinks sometime this coming winter I will end up paying a $1500 fine and a 30 day suspension.
Feedback needed asap
I think they've started to get rid of the expediency of pleading down.

If an officer has pulled you over, the fact of the matter is they had a reason to pull you over and you are likely getting a ticket. They already have you. Being difficult/an ass gets you nowhere.
Nah they don't always impound. I had a 50 over and a 70 over a year apart lol
50 over. I called Points. Paid $600
Result was take a defensive drivers course online $100
Ticket reduced to 4 demerits 29 over but because of the defensive drivers course (3 demerit credit) I ended up with 1 demerit on file.
Pay a fine of $600
Total: $1300 lol this was 4 years ago.
However like kenny said, you can skip points and save the $600 although Charlie Pester will make you fear that if you don't go with him, your life is over.

This story stinks of bullshit. You were going 240 and a cop didn't really care??? My assOriginally posted by M.alex
Drive a cooler vehicle.
I got pulled over doing 230-240 in an 80. Cop was behind me in a marked car, I didn't realize he was there, doing 80, then put it into 3rd and did a rolling burnout and away to 200+ ... and all I got was a 'cool car, pay more attention and don't do that again'.

Seen them when heading East, closer to the Stoney/Deerfoot interchange in the middle ditch, unmarked truck.
OP, the fact that you've had a clean abstract for so long SHOULD help your case come court time. It's not like you're a habitual offender that "needs to be taught a lesson".

No, that is unique to PONOKA where the RCMP TRAFFIC guys run a dictatorship.Originally posted by HiTempguy1

Again, TRAFFIC DIVISION MEMBERS dont give a shit how fast you were going. You ARE getting a ticket.
Is Ponoka the place where people will constantly get dinged with parking fines at the courthouse to boot?Originally posted by HiTempguy1

They've got quite the racket up there.
Not sure why that's "harsh"... OP clearly knew he was speeding well above the limit and he made a clear decision to ignore that so he must face the repercussions of his decision/actions.Originally posted by Canucks3322
No kidding I drive Stoney a few times a week in the Northwest part and there are stretches where it's perfectly safe to drive that speed....harsh.
OP... I'd avoid points personally... Kind of a waste of money to be honest. You can do the same wheeling and dealing with the crown without an 'agent'

Points now charges 795+tax for their service
I think I am going to just stick with them and hope for the best.
Best case I am expecting a $1500 dollar fine and hopefully only 30 day
