Kane was playing again after 21 games missed. I don't remember the time frame but I think it was 7 weeks? I think normally they say 8-12 weeks.Originally posted by beyond_ban
Fractured collarbone. What is that, 3 months? More?
I read a tweet from a doc mentioning that a teenager (mcdavid) would take longer to heal than an older guy like Kane.Originally posted by roopi

Blackhawks' Patrick Kane will not be charged with rape, N.Y. prosecutors say
Blackhawks star Patrick Kane will not face rape charges after a three-month investigation into a claim that prosecutors concluded was "rife with reasonable doubt."
In a statement released Thursday morning, prosecutors in western New York said there were "significant material inconsistencies" between the accuser's claims and those of other witnesses. They also said the physical and forensic evidence "tend to contradict" her allegation that she was raped in Kane's bed.
Investigators also said there's no proof that she was penetrated, a required element for a rape charge.
Though Kane, 26, never spoke to investigators, Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III said that the player never made any incriminating statements to witnesses nor "has he engaged in any conduct consistent with the consciousness of guilt."
"The totality of the credible evidence — the proof — does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant's allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane and this so-called 'case' is rife with reasonable doubt," Sedita said in a statement released Thursday.
The decision from the Eric County district attorney's office comes about a week after Kane's accuser told prosecutors that she no longer wanted to pursue a criminal case against him. Prosecutors said the 21-year-old college student had signed a rare affidavit declining prosecution, citing the emotional toll the investigation had taken on her and her family. According to Sedita, that statement said that she had "decided I do not wish to criminally prosecute the charges which stem out of this investigation. I do so of my own free will and without any promises or compensation."
Damn, DA ain't mincing words here.Originally posted by the DA
this so-called 'case'
Real shame that Kane looks like he got fucked over by some extortionist college student. Ripped off cover of hockey, tons of threats/hate directed at him, smeared image (not that he was anything outstanding before.) that doesn't help.
Should counter-sue her ass.... for the nothing she probably has...
No. She was a victim that was too traumatized, frightened and ashamed to continue with the case.Originally posted by colinxx235

Just another poor rape victim that will never heal due to the actions of evil rapey men.

Amusing story in the OHL:
- Owner of the Flint Firebirds fires the coaching staff after they weren't giving what he thought was enough ice time to his son
- All the players, including his son, quit the team in protest
- Owner rehires coaching staff and given 3 year contracts

Good for them for sticking together, but what a joke that they rehired the coaches and gave them 3 year contracts, not that they didn't deserve it, but the owner is a joke for back tracking like that. He obviously made a snap decision that was very poor.Originally posted by D'z Nutz

I think he admitted as such.
Can't be a comfortable ownership/management relationship there....
I haven't seen the statement he released.
How bout them Jets! FFS!!! We're on the wrong end of the highlight reel each night. For the most part, this city is getting tired of losing. I have never seen so many empty seats in the stands during games.
You think your city is tired of losing? That's cute.Originally posted by Jlude

While on the topic of club owners doing stupid things, the owner of the NJ Devils/Philadelphia 76ers parks his helicopter in the middle of a soccer field just as a youth game was about to start, leading to them cancelling it

A youth soccer game at Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, N.J., was called off Sunday night after a helicopter touched down in the middle of the pitch and stayed there. This was no emergency landing, however: the vehicle was there to pick up Josh Harris, billionaire owner of the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia 76ers.
From a parent at the game:
My son’s U13 youth soccer team was supposed to play a game at 7:30 last night (Sunday, November 8th) on the field at Benedict’s Prep in Newark. As the two teams of U13 players from the STA 02 NPL and Cedar Stars Pre-Academy team got ready to take the field, a helicopter dropped down from the sky and landed right in the middle of the field. A security detail emerged from the helicopter and informed the boys and their coaches that NJ Jersey Devils owner, Josh Harris, had instructed them to land on the field and wait for him to return from the Prudential Center where the Devils were playing. The boys and their families waited in the cold until finally it became clear that Harris was running late and no one knew when he might return to pick up his ride. Eventually, the coaches decided to call the boys’ game and everyone went home disappointed, frustrated and annoyed. I am not sure when or if Harris ever showed up to remove his helicopter from the field, but I hope that he had a great night. There are a number of 12 year olds and youth soccer fans who did not — because of Harris’s selfish behavior.
soccer practice!, let's test your leg strength and accuracy!
After last year, you guys had some hope (and I suppose we had a little also), but you're right... I can't complain much on a Calgary forum.Originally posted by rage2

It's almost as if a script is written every year that the teams secretly have to follow. None of it makes any sense particularly this year.
Kings' Dustin Brown...major douchebag:

Considering Dustin Brown has a history of being a dirty player, the kids got off lightly haha
That's a douche move for sure, there's really no excuse. He knows the formalities of what they were doing, shaking hands was expected.
Funny, in 2014 I think (whenever they won the cup last), I was in LA to watch the Kings/Blackhawks western conference final. I was staying at the Ritz Carlton next to the rink, which is where the players stay before big games. Long story short, I know one player on the team (he's gone now), I met Brown at the pool, when the team met there to chill out the morning/afternoon of the game and just a big douche. Gave me the "we're not taking pictures or giving autographs" to me, I just laughed because I thought he was joking, he wasn't. I continued to talk to the guys I knew, had a smoke/drink, etc. He kept talking shit about every topic that was brought up, I could tell that a lot of the other players were getting tired of him, but no one said anything.
The non handshake is just brutal, and the guy has kids of his own, which makes it even harder to understand.
