Default Anyone here has some good welding experience?

I am looking for some one who can weld to install a bracket into my engine bay. The sole purpose of the required weld is to allow me to install the factory strut brace off a top of the line model vehicle into my base model. In the car where the brace came from, there is a bracket at the top center of the firewall providing a third mounting point for the brace. My car doesn't come with that bracket but I have sourced a bracket (silver bracket pictured) elsewhere to weld it on. The silver bracket can be located by strut mount positions and the two holes on the brace which will secure the bracket while it's being tack welded into place. After which the brace can be removed and a final bead weld being done to the bracket.

Anyone that can give a fellow member a hand please let me know. I do not know how much I am offering for such a job but let me know how much you are looking to get paid (labor, gas money, beer etc). I also have an exhaust section that got cut clean apart that I need to get welded. Thanks in advance.

drill out the spot welds and separate the two pieces. who ever does the welding can use the old spot weld holes.

its honestly not worth it. you can just get a quality strut bar that uses the top of the struts to mount. if you see any difference id be very surprised.

a strut bar made for an evo 7-9 will fit, so just choose whichever one you want, or alternatively just grind off the 2 legs on the ralliart strut bar to the mid mounting hole and repaint it to match your engine bay

Thanks for the recommendation but I don't get into this kind of work since I have no space in my garage for cars and tig only.

I do have 50' extension cables for my torch and ground but just not the kind of welding I do now days.

long time ago I bought a brand new 200a mig from air liquide, only used it about 3 times to tack dp and exhaust under cars and ended up selling it because I needed the space.

I have the ability to stick weld and have lots of rods but I have never even tried lol

I would probably buy a mig if I found one cheap in need of repair but only for welding outside. mig welding in my garage probably start a fire in 2 mins or less

My new job we do lots of skids flux core with gas and that seems to have much less spatter. I might be able pull that off but for the amount I would use it not really worth buying.

Pretty cramped space I have and being back to work full time I can't really justify for the occasional job

The only person I can recommend is revhard but I doubt he would even look at doing a job like this.

I do know a guy in Coventry that is decent but he has no room in his garage either, building a hot rod.

Mig welders of beyond, identify yourselves!!!

I wish I knew how to weld; building cars is so difficult when you're limited to bolting

I do mig, I should post pics of all the shit I built out here in the last few days lol. Legendboy, odd I get minimal spatter with mine. Lincoln power mig 250 circa early 2000's. Non Flux core with gas.

All I have in Calgary is a Shitty ass stick welder, Damn I've had it for 10 years and have yet to use it. Mind you I hate stick so I have zero motivation to use it.

The thing about stick though, is most rods should be baked in a rod oven at 175 degrees for a varying amount of time. Few people actually do that though. My older brother could do this though, he's a journeyman welder.

Also if you wanted my buddy Steve's contact info from EDIT: never mind his site is down.
He's one of the best welders in western canada, puts Rev hard to shame
