Between ATV2 and Raspberry pi 2, which would give better performance?
I currently have an ATV 2 but it's pretty laggy and I want to watch 1080P content, so looking to replace it.

ATV2 is dead in the KODI world, they have stopped supporting it. I know I switched years ago as it couldn't index my "massive" 300 movie collection without crashing.Originally posted by Hero_X

I ended up with a MacMini to replace it. I'm happy with that, it's silent and has a ton of power for a HTPC. Look on kijiji and you can find me for a decent price. I use Airserver or X-Mirage for AirPlay and they both work good.
minix8 still works perfect. but i was having a problem with my external hd being plugged into router and sleep mode blah blah so i upgraded to a qnap 251 nas. see how this works out for me now.Originally posted by blairtruck
the minix i got has been handling 1080 fine and i have plenty of Movies on my HD and index them no problem with kodi.
has anyone used this nas to run kodi?
can you use kodi for ufc or to watch sports or is it only movies

I have sports using sportsdevil, some streams are garbage quality. Haven't checked for UFC but I assume it is there.Originally posted by 95EG6P

Still using Fire TV. I have 2 now, set up and working perfectly with Hulu+ & Netflix on Unblock DNS, kodi I finally set up properly too on my newer nas. Very impressed with it.
It's good for TV shows, movies, music and etc...Originally posted by 95EG6P

I use an amazon fire stick one tv and a qnap nas on another. Both work great for me. I bought a logitech wireless keyboard from ME when it was on sale for $30 to use with the qnap as I was tired of using the qremote app.
I bought a couple extra Fire TV sticks from the States when I was there. Haven't got around to putting it on yet, but I can let people know how it goes. For those that have, any tips?
And thought my dad, etc. would want one, but don't think he is interested. Let me know if anyone is interested.
Gonna piggyback on this thread, what are some must add sources?
All I have is Genesis and SportsDevil. Anything for NFL/NHL specifically, or maybe live tv?
I bought a Amazon FireTV box off of eBay over a year ago and it's been absolutely fantastic. It can handle any files I throw at it and streams everything great.
Some use SALTS - Stream all the sources. Decent replacement for Project Free TV. Also 1Channel and Icefilms are still around.Originally posted by slick2404

I think Phoenix was one add-on that used to stream live sports as well.

Noticed that HBO was avilable now on the fire tv. Signed up for the trial and it works perfectly . Just need one click billing setup.

I will second (or third) the fire stick recommendation. I have ran a Nexus Player, an MXQ box (two types), and the fire sticks. The nexus runs it the best by far but the fire stick is a very very close second and drastically cheaper.
They key is to not overload the stick with plug ins. Start with a clean copy of Kodi and just install what you need.
Hey guys,
I just got rid of cable and have played around with Kodi. I just use my chromecast and use Kodi on my Android phone to stream to it. The quality is ok but maybe it's the quality of the videos?
Anyways, in our home, we only download movies, save to ext hard drive and then i plug the hard drive into the home theatre and watch it that way. Or we use AppleTv to watch CraveTV/Netflix.
Would this MiniX be useful in my setup or not really? Bear in mind, we have surround sound and just a 37" LCD. Or i bring out my 120" projector on rainy days...

I will check it out, but I don't have a dedicated desktop computer, just a laptop with external hard drive I plug in/out for media
+1 for Plex. Plex server running on my windows desktop, one Smart tv has the app, 2 others have Roku 3s. Dead simple, super reliable.
