    Default Denim and Smith

Been going to a Denim and Smith in Aspen for a bit.

Had one guy that cut my hair and put some crap in it, looked alright so I went back. Got this gal that took her time, was nice, and did a great job. Had her a couple times and then two in a row I get someone else because she wasn't there. Both cuts in under 10 minutes with nothing more than a comb and shears and I just hate the cut in general. I end up cleaning it all up myself and have to go back sooner than I would have with the right cut. I might as well go back to the old dude I was going to before.

Does anyone go to these guys? Is it bad etiquette to just walk in and turn down all the staff but one? It's first come first served, but I don't want anyone else at this point.

On one hand, I'm the customer and I should be able to demand what I want. On the other hand...they are cutting my hair...couldn't be worse than the last two cuts though so

Anywhere else in the area worth checking out?

Don't think you can there. Guess I'll just call and ask.

Just say you're waiting for (insert girl's name here). People are doing it every time at the barber shop I go to... like literally every time I'm there, at least one or two people are waiting for someone specific.

At the barbershop I go to I usually call ahead to make sure the barber I prefer is there. I either book an appointment or just wait for him when he's done cutting someone else's hair haha

Now to make the uncomfortable call where I have to use the term "the asian gal" when trying to find out who she is

Not rude in anyway if you prefer 1 person over the other and i always assumed guys were like girls where we stuck with 1 person. I know our hair is not the complicated mess like females but i stick to the same person because they know how i like it and not have to ask me questions on how to cut it. Having a proper cut can make you feel like a million bucks

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

I don't see anything wrong with asking for the person you like.

I've had bad experiences with denim and smith so I'll never go back. The westbrook mall one had terrible service. First of all they did the touch up shaving with the straight razor to get cleaner lines around the side burns. I thought it was just good service, but they charged something like 5 dollars for something most good barber shops do for free. The place I go to now does it every time for free. They didn't even warn me that they charge extra for that "service." He just went ahead afterwards and then told me he was charging 5 extra for that straight razor.

When I go to pay, their visa machine freezes up half way through but still spits out a half-receipt. I told him it went through but the guy keeps on insisting that it didn't and charges me again. I take a look at the receipts and sure enough I got double charged. So I tell him, and after much debate, I tell him to go get his manager. He checks the history and sure enough, I've been double charged and I get a refund (which takes the manager another 10 minutes to figure out). No apology or anything.

To top that off, he did a horrible job that my current barber fixed for me.

I'll never touch another denim and smith. Most of the people cutting there just seem like rotating barbers that couldn't care less (typical of chain places)

I've been to the one in aspen and won't go back. Crap service and an average haircut at best

    alright, problem solved.

went there, she was working, timing apparently worked out just right so I get my hair cut. Asked her if I can make appointments, no, but they all have regulars who will wait for them instead of following the first-come-first-served rules.

I'm the guy that googles "2015 haircuts for men" trying to figure out if I can do something different than the past 15 years of haircuts. Sure enough, she did something a little different, exactly what I'd asked for but made sure the cut fits my big head lol.

And yea, like rocket said, getting a good haircut can make you feel good.

Your head of hair, time and money, your choice who cuts it.
Walking around with a bad hair cut sucks.

The one in Westbrook is like that... and like any other "chain" haircut place nobody cuts your hair the same twice.

I don't care though as my hair grows fast enough.

When I used to go to the barbershop in McTowne, about half of the people waiting there would wait for Omar and the rest would get cut by whoever is there.

Nothing rude about having a barber that you prefer.

If you care about your appearance than having the same person cut your hair every time is important. Let that person grow to know you, your style, and how your hair grows out. You'll find that
    a) cut time is shorter
    b) your cuts are consistent
