what is a good program to use for benchmarking? I got a new rig and just wanna see how it is compared to my laptop, old rig, and friends. So far ive done 3dmark and pcmark.
Those are the main ones.
You could always play a game and record your FPS over time. Use FRAPS to capture your FPS, graph in excel, and compare to your laptop.
What hardware are you running?
I always ran Passmark, not the best benchmark overall, but its easy to keep track of old scores over time. I uploaded a bench of every system I have and its easy to compare cpu performance, memory, hard drive etc...
Benchmarking is a dangerous game. You'll get caught in a loop of one-up-manship costing you lots of cash.
Here's my result. See if you can beat it
Run the FIRE STRIKE EXTREME 1.1 test on default setting.

These synthetic benchmarks never give a really truly accurate idea as the hardware utilization varies massively.
I wouldn't even come close, that card is worth as much as my system lol. I've seen the guys running 4x Titan xOriginally posted by ryanallan

The Unigine benchmarks are quite popular

The guys with 4x Titan X are not playing games, they're probably not being productive either (no double precision hardware support), they're shooting for #1 on FIRESTRIKE EXTREME!
