codetrap, there's nothing really crazy about the notion that media outlets are owned by Corporations and can almost be defined as lobbyists now. Hell, even I can remember when reporters/anchors/etc. NEVER made their political affiliations known publicly, most wouldn't hold cards as members of a party (at least not publicly) due to their journalistic integrity. Now the majority "report" with an obvious slant toward their own political leanings (or that of their owning body) more than anything else. Tell me that isn't divisive to some degree as it's only a version of the truth through whatever lens they happen to hold.

    - residential kitchen grade foil thoughts
That used to be the whole point of journalists, to provide the unbiased view. Barb Higgins actually said it best (and I hate to say she said anything "best" lol), but she said she wouldn't return to the media if she failed as a mayoral candidate now that her political stance is known , so she didnt want people to think her way of reporting something was skewed.

    its in the article

Since the story was brought forward, Qayyum has received messages of support from across the country.

“It’s really, really, giving me the courage,” he said.

Global News initially agreed to blur the passengers face in order to obtain the video but has since learned the identity of the man. Sources have confirmed the passenger in the video is Chad Pasloski. Despite numerous attempts, Global News was unable to reach him for comment.

Pasloski took a cab home from a company party when the incident occurred. He used a company taxi chit to pay his fare. Global News contacted his employer, Alcro Electric, for comment, but the president of the company failed to return our requests.

Criminal and human rights lawyer and former crown prosecutor Jeinis Patel is having trouble understanding why RCMP officers only re-opened the case after Global News aired the video.

the ironic thing is that the drunk slob exemplifies everything wrong with Canada, while the cabbie exemplifies everything right about Canada.

I'd much prefer the cabbie vs fat slob as a representative of Canada.

Probably his only hope is to change his name, his look, and move far away from Calgary.

Sexist! These are clearly completely different things you misogynistic ass!

Since we're all for equality, the only proper thing for this guy to do is call us all out on causing his hard luck, telling us he doesn't care what we think of him, and going and stripping at a gay-bar or something

If you have to ask the question, you wouldn't understand the answer.

Both were drunk, both did something they wouldn't do sober on camera without their permission, in public, with no expectation of privacy.

Sexism is defined as discrimination based on sex, so by treating these 2 cases so differently, wouldn't that itself be the definition of sexism?

If you don't have an answer, you don't need to post something just to be involved. Just thought you should know.

There's no comparison to having sex in public, with verbal abuse, physical abuse, and destruction of private property.

Although it could be argued that Alexis was a willing victim in destruction of private property

    Guy just lost his job.
    Important
At Alcro Electric we would like to acknowledge the public’s concern. We do not condone such behaviour and we believe in accountability. All people need to be treated with respect and dignity. This incident is not a representation of Alcro Electric. The employee involved is no longer with Alcro Electric.

I would also like to know why the RCMP didn't lay charges when the incident occurred two years ago. They had the cam footage FFS.

...and why are we only hearing about this now?

You mean the charges the police weren't originally interested in but now that they've been publicly embarrassed at their apparent tolerance of such an event, are being shamed into filing?
