    Default Shell VPower

Is it just 'NE', or does the North East not have V-Power at their shell gas stations.. everytime I go.. "we are out of V-power and Silver"..

Either gotta go to the Flying J or Deerfoot/16th..

Royal Oak was out on the weekend as well. Too much hype on this "nitro+" stuff? lol

I went to the one on 32nd on Monday and it had V Power ,

There was a refinery shortage a week or 2 ago but it seems like the stations are starting to get supply again.

Shell has been having production problems with V-Power for a few weeks now. It's hard to get all those expensive nitrogens into gasoline!

I was just at the dyno, and the tuner said even those getting 91 octane from the Shell's that supposedly have it, aren't tuning as high as they should be, he suspects those places are getting 91 octane from another non-Shell refinery.

Interesting.. but the refinery shortage does make sense..

That 94 octane from Petro gives a little extra oomph, but gas mileage is

I'm very weary though when I fill at these places in the NE.. test all of them.. bet the ones in the south have more additives lol

speaking of Shell, is their "new" V-power+++++++ (or whatever it's called) any different than their "old" v-power, or just a marketing gimmick?

I have no doubt its different, now whether its better or not is the real debate.

It's all the f'ing ethanol. Great for higher octane, terrible for actual energy efficiency.

Shell across from Southland Leisure Center In Braeside also had no gas on Monday. Went to Husky instead.

All of Edmonton's stations have been put for over a week, mostly premium but some stations everything.

A lightning strike on Thursday damaged Imperial Oil’s power systems, adding to shortages at gas stations already caused by “unplanned maintenance” that has shut down operations at Shell Canada’s Scotford Manufacturing Centre.
    ...
The Shell Scotford refinery, meanwhile, is shut down while it undergoes “unexpected” maintenance which caused half of Shell gas stations in and around Edmonton to run dry.

That station is responsible for fuelling most Alberta Shell stations, so the company is working on finding new temporary supplies until the Scotford refinery is brought back online.

“As it stands right now, we’re looking far and wide and high and low to see where we can find supply that we can bring into the province and hopefully fill up some of those stations that have run out,” said Cameron Yost, spokesman for Shell, in an interview on Thursday.

Neither Shell Canada nor Imperial Oil could provide a date as to when they would be fully operational again.
In other words, you might as well stop buying Shell for now, because it isn't Shell gas.

Also cancel your dyno tune if you use it, lol, I basically just wasted $300 for nothing.

I go to the Shell in Copperfield and the Flying J at Deerfoot Casino. I have never once seen them out of V-Powa. I've seen Flying J out of reg, but not V.

Yeah, a few times Flying J has been out of reg/mid so they had V-power on for regular price, which is a nice bonus.

Yeah the Shell's in Edmonton have been lacking, some stations without any gas. Esso it is... The attendants are always surprised when I ask why there isn't premium because I drive a corolla.

Isn't all gasoline the same? The difference between the manufacturers is in the additive pack isn't it? Unless they are out of Nitro+ additives or whatever it is, I imagine it would be the same

Not when it comes to tuning, it isn't. Also, Shell charges an extra premium for their "Nitrogen" bullshit. So why pay more for gas that doesn't actually contain it?

Shell also is one of the few in town who will
Guarantee no ethanol in V Power.

So not its not all the same. There might be some argument of which is better. But not same.

I use coop gas along with Shell, more so in July because Shell has been out everywhere through the month. It's pretty close over the years across all my cars, turbo to NA. Plus they have full serve which is awesome.

    http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread/t-294360.html

They use their own refinery, so it's definitely not Shell gas according to maxtrbo93.

    http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread/t-311616.html

While other ex-coop employees say it's Shell.

Who knows, except that it works well.

That's what confuses me. They do have their own refinery, but my dyno tune last week says their 91 is shit right now, which coincides with Shell being shit.

It was true about 7 years ago when I talked to the head office level manager of gas station for Calgary Co-Op. He told me it was Shell, but without the additives. However a lot changes in 7 years.
