    Default Weekend Nightshift Work

    Hey All,

Just want to say I've tried looking around as much as I can via online postings job boards, kijiji, etc but I've had minimal luck.

I work full-time Mon-Fri and wanted to pick up some extra night shift work, mostly weekends but also willing to do a couple weeknights if need be.

I was looking for general labor/warehouse work as I don't mind heavy lifting etc, and for anyone curious, I work full-time in IT. (Times are rough )

If anyone has any leads or ideas of where I should apply for a schedule like this that'd be great!

    Thanks,

I work calgary transit evenings and weekends and I'll tell you right now you won't find a better part time job. If you have a unrestricted class 5 with less than 3 demerits and min 1 year customer service then your good.

Temp agencies often have this kind of work as well. When I was out of work after university, I did night shift at a fertilizer factory. Smelled less than you might think, was actually a pretty decent job.

Temp agencies love anyone who has their shit together and can speak English.

Thanks for the tips. Any specific temp agency you've had success with?

I used Diversified Staffing when I was in university and wanted to work breaks in class. They were pretty good with finding things that fit my schedule.

That was almost 10 years ago, but I know they still exist.

In Calgary, I think I used Kelly services.
But check out Manpower, About Staffing, and any others. I find they respond well to inquires IN PERSON. Go with a resume in hand, wear a decent shirt.
When I did it a few years ago, they thought it was important that I had WHMIS certification, so they had me do the online test right away. I was familiar with that material, so I aced it, and I think that combined with my presentable appearance put me to the top of the pile.

Fluent English-speakers who don't look like crack heads should have no trouble getting some work this way.

I used to contract with Kelly Services and it was mainly IT related but this was 10 years ago. They paid weekly too which was nice. Another option for IT related part time work was Eagle Professional Resources. I worked with them for a year too but that was 11 years ago. Good luck!

I will look into the suggestions. It seems that a lot of employers who find out you work full-time don't even give you the chance, I assume its because they think you will be unreliable/overworked.
