Limit on posting new threads about the election

Can the mods please enforce a limit on the number of threads a poster is allowed to make around the same topic or at least merge them all into one and keep them contained?

If we don't vote until October 19, the first two or three pages of the news section will be nothing but Toma's shit.

Or better yet, make one thread for the election and all posts go into there.

Better yet. Ban Toma. He does absolutely nothing except spread propaganda and belittle others opinions. Either way I can't handle him posting 7 times sequentially in one thread. I would like to enjoy the political talk over the next two months but it's going to be difficult as it is now.

What really pisses me off is the mods letting Toma post 50 god damn times in a row in a thread. Like in "NDP says oilsands 'may have to be left in the ground'" thread he just posts shit after shit and nothing is done.

In any case, if you don't like his posts, there's always the ignore button. If it does get more out of hand, he'll be warned.

Being crazy doesn't warrant a ban, he's definitely entertaining Esp with ignore so easy to shut him up. One day I'm sure he'll cross some far reaching line but until then at least he only seems to post during elections.

I'm just amused that members put other members on ignore - one can always opt not to respond. Sometimes even the most vilified people can bring forth an unexpected and worthwhile opinion but if one has blinders on, then one will never know.

That's what I love about beyond. I might think someone is a complete idiot (or they may think that of me) but occasionally said person surprises me with an interesting viewpoint.

I finally added him to my ignore list and now all of social/current events is just hidden posts

Simple solution is to modify Tomas post timer to greater than a minute. Maybe something like 10 minutes is appropriate for him

Beyond is Byeond because of teh chracters we have on here. So long as he isnt threatening people on here and just spouting like a +15 wanderer i don't mind him being on here.

We had a similar conversation not that long ago, and I would say the status is still that toma hasn't done anything to get himself banned. But he is overdoing it.

I choose the ignore button, but he's creating so many threads that It's really messing things up.

That longer post timer is one option, or ban him from starting threads, or something.

He started 4 threads in a week (well in the last 3 months), all with completely distinct topics. We're not going to ban someone because their opinion is unpopular. That's not the beyond way.

His multiple posts in a single thread is overdoing it a little, but we're monitoring it and will take appropriate action if necessary.

I used to give Toma credit for being that guy that occasionally brings out a decent alternative point of view, but now that I think of it, he hasn't done that in years. Nowadays, he just makes drive-by announcement type posts. He's not out to encourage educated debate or offer interesting points of view, he just wants to preach his nonsense.

You can't even have a conversation with him. There's many examples, but just look at where FraserB tried to ask him why he thinks any other candidate would do any better. Toma just replies with (paraphrasing) , 'Doesn't matter, Harper is evil! See!"

He's just the Beyond poster equivalent of a political attack ad now
