I'm using the Cascadia II for hybrids and love them. Not sure how wide your winter tires are, but these are wide enough for 35c.

I went riding through big puddles for the fun of it yesterday just cause I could

You get them to fit with discs?

Yup, it comes with spacers so that the arms clear the disc brakes.

I have a ton of these as well. They work better than no fenders but don't work with every saddle. The stock saddle on my JTS doesn't work well because once you fold it away it doesn't return to the original shape.

Has anyone used green slime in their inner tubes to prevent flats? I've had some problems with tiny leaks that don't show up unless the tire is pressurized (above 30psi) but when the tube is off the rim, I can't get the pressure up that high, it just blows up like a ballon. I had a mystery hole in one tube and replaced it with a new one and I'm still having leaks. They're a bit of a pain to get on and off (no quick release and the marathons have a very tight bead). just wondering if sliming it would be a good solution

I personally wouldn’t. If you get any of that crap in your pump it’ll probably ruin it.

How fast is the leak? I think it’s natural for higher psi tires to lose pressure over time. I run my hybrid at 85psi and pump them up once a week.

I use the Portland design origami fenders. Quick to put on and off, light and don’t have slush build up problems

It will work....but, mixed results in tubes. In tubes the hole is so elastic (no fibres) it will easily change shape and not allow the slime to seal.
So the small plug that forms will not stay in place and sealant will end up between the tube and tire. Especially an issue with higher PSI applications.

I would convert to tubeless with a Stans setup or similar if you're worried about flats.

Alright, I'll just try to find the hole in this tube and patch it. Just irks me that this is a brand new tube and I have a leak. It's not high pressure, dropping from 60 to 20psi in a couple of days.

Could be the valve too if you can’t find a leak. I don’t think quality control is very high on tubes

Fugh, never thought about that. I'll try to tighten the valve core. Thanks

MEC tubes? The quality seems to come and go. I've had more consistent luck with the continental tubes, and not that much more per tube.
Soak it in a tub, or spray with soapy water to find the leak. Throw a real patch/epoxy on, not those quick stick on ones.

Nope. From Bow Cycle. Haven't checked this new tube yet, but the last tube, couldn't not find the leak with soapy water, no bubbles, no sounds when it was off the rim. Could only get the pressure up to about 15psi, and the tube was already triple the size. But when on the rim under a tire and pressurized to 60psi, bubbles. I just tossed that one.

Just out of curiosity, are the tubes Presta or Schrader valves?

Just swapped in my studded tires, put in my fat ass gel saddle, and tuned the disc brakes tonight.

On days like today when the snow is still really loose, I can totally see why people ride fat bikes. It would be so fun to just go plowing through the snow.

For me, -30'ish with windchill. I find as long as my feet and hands are warm, I can deal with the cold.
