I remember what I saw go down now, Thai Tai in Chinatown. Also Page One. As if that mall wasn't dying enough already.

Not if that has anything to do with local economic conditions or just UFA being idiots.

When you are operating with 3-5% profit margin (Cabela's range), cost is up, sales are down and losing market share, it's a tough pill to swallow.

Terrible location unfortunately. The construction there had to have been crimping their business.

Is that on average or where does that stat come from? I ask only because some of their prices are ridiculous imo!

It's just profit margin I dug up for Cabela. Cabela's GPM is around 40% ($1 item cost them $0.70 to buy) but after all cost, profit is only 3-5% of revenue over the last 5 years.

I would assume Wholesale Sports would have to run on the same margin to compete. If they can't, its basically another Canadian company that couldn't compete with a bigger one from US (See Rona).

Wow, that's low. That's the world of high volume sales I suppose.

Double Zero was surprising to me. Its not a fabulous location (while central, it is in the basement), margins on Pizza are pretty high as well and it seemed to be pretty popular.

Verona makes a good greasy slice, that is too bad.

Yeah, I found it pretty steady every time I was there. It was one of my favorite vendor lunch stops.

To be honest I hadn't gone to the core double zero since chinook opened, closer to go with the wife. No excuses for lunch really.

Perhaps they wanted to focus on Chinook only?

Actually if it was a 40% profit margin, a $0.70 cost item would retail for $1.16... Not that it is either here nor there as net profit is everything but just for accuracy sakes I point that out. $1.16 - 40% = $0.70.

    But $0.70 *1.40 = $0.98???!?!?!
Watch out for percentages, they aren't the same both ways.

The location is terrible. I always wondered how the E&C survived there all those years. We used to go there simply because it was always not busy no matter when you went.
