legal question about skulls, sheds and fossils?

Can I keep buffalo skulls that I find in the river? I know I need a permit if it's a deer skull with antlers still attached and I know I can't take any fossil still in the ground. But where do buffalo skulls fall?

I found one in the city yesterday on a float above down town.

Tyrell doesn't care unless it 10000+ years old or from a jump site, painted, tooled by first nations.

Conservation officers don't care as its to old to poach so no need for a permit like with newer skulls.

After all the phone calls I was told buffalo skulls are perfectly fine to take if they are river wash outs and not from a historical site or from a provincial/national park (no duh)

Actually, there is no problem with collected shed antlers and such from public lands or private lands where you've been given permission. The real problems start if you attempt to sell these collect items - that's when you can get in trouble.

Yah sheds are fine but some lucky dogs find the skull with a full rack and for those you need a permit. All skulls from what I got need a permit but I could have been mistaken.
