On a salary per hr worked, I am probably the same as a server.

Guess depends on the keg and OJ you’ve been to. I’ve experienced the opposite. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Chairman's with the wife on Sunday and after dinner, bottle of wine or so our total was like $215. 18% was min tip on the machine. So $45 tip for the server.
Though she was good and gave us free carrot cake for the baby sitter. I'm not sure I'll be able to financially recover from this.
I've read stories that some restaurants automatically includes tip on the bill then the machine ask for tips as well, good thing it never happened to me.
Some days I miss bartending and the sweet sweet easy money.
$8-9 min wage, averaged $30-40/ hr cash.
Then I remember how shitty dealing with drunk people is.
The $3000-$4000/ month while going to school was quite nice.
Some places in the US I am seeing a Restaurant administration fee of 5% then stating this is not part of the tip and goes solely to the restaurant. PfffThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Tokyo Street Market did some bullshit like that. I haven't been back in a while. Someone confirm if this still exists? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This was pre-pandemic
every restaurant I’ve been to that adds an auto gratuity for larger groups is like this. The server should make it clear when they hand you the bill and pinpad that they already added a tip so that you can push no tip (unless you want to give them more)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Do you tip on pick up?
A lot of apps default to 15% as well.
We were in San Diego at the beginning of July and it was there on the bill when we ate out. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
One of my friends works at a weed store, makes 15/hr and tips typically work out to an extra 10$/hr. Wtf.
If you're going to make me subsidize your restaurant operation and wages you'd damn well better hide it in the menu item cost and just make good and sure that the quality and experience reflect the price paid so I come back. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I say stupid shit all the time.
Except you're forgetting about the large percentage of tip money that isn't taxed like your salary is! So your net is probably even worse as a result lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I would really like to be able to tip the driver and restaurant after I receive my food. 50/50 chance the driver actually finds my house and is late. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I tip a flat $ for the nicer places, usually about $50 and it winds up being 15-20%. Last time I was at Chairman's it was a 2 hour meal so I think that's reasonable? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Inflation has eliminated the tip portion of that I was paying for the smaller family owned places. If my meal was $22, I'd give them $25 cash and call it good; now the same food is $24, so their "tip" portion is lower. But we all know that a family run place isn't claiming cash sales anywayThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Who is tipping at a weed store? Do those same people tip the clerk at the 7/11 as well? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

$50 holy lol. The waiter better be standing next to the table the entire time. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think we had 3 waiters or people come by the table at Chairman's in total? Waiter, the guy with the meat tray who explained the cuts, recommended which one and how to have it cooked and sommelier? They somehow manage to time everything perfectly for drinks/apps/mains/desserts and have the right amount of interaction; so I don't mind rewarding it when I get the exact experience I want. Bonus points for modifying the apps without us asking to fit the number of people seatedThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

People are very generous. Now idk if that’s because they are or they feel compelled to.
