Default Recommend large Chinese wedding venue

Just seeing if anyone has recommendations on a venue to hold a large Chinese wedding reception? Looking at around 400 people.

We know about the Chinese Cultural Center (cheapest option) but seeing if there are other options. Any large hall that will allow you to bring your own caterer will do.

    Thanks in advance!

I think Regency is the largest place in town. I don't know about catering of chinese wedding banquet.

I believe Regency and Silver Dragon can accommodate us but we are trying to avoid having it in a Chinese restaurant. Trying to find a nice hall and having the food catered if anyone here has any tips.

A friend of mine had his wedding at the hall behind Sakana in Chinatown. This was a good few years ago, but if my memory serves me right, there is no cost to using the hall but you have to use their catering service. Their catering service is provided by a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown (I don't recall which restaurant specifically). They have tables and chairs available to you but you have to decorate yourself and provide your own booze.

I think that Gasoline Alley at Heritage Park will hold 400 but I can't remember what their catering policy was off the top of my head.

Stampede BMO building thing, don't recall the name. They partition the hall to be as big as you want it. My Indian friend and my Chinese friend has their wedding on the same day....on opposite sides of the wall haha, so we would go and visit between the two throughout the night. I only ate on the Indian side and it was Indian food, not sure if they got it catered from outside or how that worked out.

EDIT: This place, lots of options:

This. They allow you to bring your own liquor too so you save money on that. This was our second choice after the one we went with. We had just over 400 guests as well. We went with the Markin Macphail Centre in COP and it was quite a bit more expensive as they charge the host per drink for the open bar and for Indian food, only allow catering from Green Chilli. From my research, I think BMO allowed your own alcohol but for food (Indian) only allowed catering from Mango Shiva.

Silver Dragon will hold about 250 people comfortably. that's where I held my wedding. any more people in there and it would've been very tight.

Check out Civic Center (the old Treasures of China) in Chinatown - brand new, holds up to 500

Regency and cultural center are the only Chinese Restaurant that will do 40 tables. Everywhere else maxes around 28 which includes like Forbidden City and Silver Dragon.

If you are getting married in 2016 you will need to book soon if you are interested in Regency. It fills up really fast for weekend weddings, especially Saturdays.

My sister went to a catered Chinese Wedding at a hotel ballroom and by the time the food came out it was cold and gross. I don't recall which restaurant did the catering.

I always wondered what they did with that place.
