Since you wont be having an xbox or PS3 do you want it to be a smart TV or is this exclusively for Cable?
This probably fits your bill pretty well.

Though i think you have way over budgeted yourself.
Lots of cheaper options if you are willing to keep the size to ~65.
For example:

$ 1,800
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX56527
$1,900
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX57325
$2,300
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX56550
$2,300
That's just from me checking one store...

It really depends on what you want bud, you seem to be good at researching and finding deals.
Anything from Samsung, LG, even Sony (though you said you didn't like them) will give you a good usable everyday tv.
Really it depends if you actually want to spend 3k or if you want to get the biggest thing possible for your money. Sometimes bigger isn't better depending on space available and use. Often it is good to go as big as possible but i don't know what your plans are for it ( 65+ inch is pretty big for a casual tv in the kitchen for example ).
Also its not a ferrari, i don't think it cares how you use it daily whether its home theater or breakfast news.

5 months ago, 2 Sharp 80" models would fit the bill, but they pulled out of the Canadian market. Cheapest 80" now is $5k (Vizio).

Not to thread high jack but what kind of differences would the TV have if you wanted it to also fit console gaming? I will be in the market for a 65" tv soon also.

Didn't spent enough time to vouch for it but the black level looks amazing for the 10mins I'm staring at it. Review looks good. But some people still don't like the brand.

Check lag. But given that lowest lag panels may not give you the best picture for it's a balance.

Of the ones I posted they have the 75 and 65 inch Samsung for sale. Exact same tv ( J6300 series ). Bigger one is 700 dollars more.Originally posted by navdeep

So really its just whether the extra 10 inches is worth 700 bucks to you.

Since you basically have your family room set up as the home theater and the room is plenty big the 75 would probably suit you better.Originally posted by navdeep

75" is about a 10 foot ideal viewing distance depending on who you ask.

Something is wrong if you have soap opera effect and motion enhancement is turned off.

Best buy dropped it from their website but in store they do have an 80' Sharp model for $3800 right now.
Another vote for Vizio. I got the M-series 65" and once calibrated it's very impressive for the money as the black levels are as good as you will see in more expensive sets.
