I'm off to an ATCO Gas site next week, hopefully all of those guys got kept on, they were excellent guys to work for

Some good news for Canada, GE are bringing the Waukesha plant here....

    https://www.genewsroom.com/press-rel...-move-products

I get the feeling it will go to the GTA, or thereabouts....but commuting distance to Calgary would be nice

I know Enerflex/GasDriveGlobal has shops in Calgary, and field locations in QC, and BC for doing the Waukesha and Jenbacher lines...so would GE want to come to Calgary to directly compete with EFX?

I know our company (fully owned GE subsidiary) just added Waukesha and Jenbacher field services into our umbrella, so it makes me wonder what GE's overall plan for their Gas engines is in Canada

horbeiger picked up waukesha cause enerflex c/o gasdrive got their collective dick slapped form ge for being assholes to their dealers.

Companies got pissed off that enerflex got the packing end as well as the sale gen. Even gas compression companies like bidell started to waiver. They were making sales and fucking people over by giving their projects preference for lead time and price differential. So much so that even marathon (gen ends) made a fuss about supplying. Cummins told them to suck a dick and held their feet to the fire, therefore stamford isnt playing ball.

Since then they (enerflex) have lost waukesha.

PS: Jenbacher used to be retailed exclusively through waterous (WAJAX) but is now a distinct line.
Jenbacher is specifically used for powerplants. GE holds the exclusivety for all engineering and installation as well as maintenance. They will NEVER sell the rights to Jenbacher.

Jenbacker is only competitive in moderate size power plans, its not used for standby /small o&g prime.

CHP is becoming a big concept among people using gas. Waukesha doesnt currently produce an as built line with scrubbers and in-house heat exchangers. Players like Liebherr and Guascor are shoving their way in.

Guascor through kohler is coming online in 2016 and Shindoa is producing cheeeeeap gas engines.

Even Wei-chai is blasting the market with nat-gas engines.

Sorry Mibz, I didnt write my post very eloquently. But I'm pretty sure that some of the people in the industry (power generation/utility) will decipher it.

The Spyglass thing isn't overly surprising. Their assets weren't particularly good. They're the first of probably half a dozen companies in a similar boat.

To be fair, Alberta has hands down the absolute best power infrastructure, anywhere. Once the HVDC project is done we'll also have some of the most technologically advanced mains in the world.

The floods proved that we rarely have outage level events. But when we do, people are sure glad the lights and elevators work.

These days most of my work is going down to the states. Custom Gens/distribution.
