I got yelled at for putting a file back on a shelf after i was done looking through it ( 5 minutes standing in front of the shelf) by the girl in records who stated "THAT'S MY JOB"

In a union environment i would believe it.

The TELUS news was not a very good thing to wake up to this morning.

Knowing TELUS, my suspicions are that any non-bargaining unit employees should be the most fearful of being unexpectedly let go. BU people in the latter part of their careers might see some packages - I would've been in my 34th year at TELUS if I had opted to endure more time there. Definitely management employees that have several decades of service will be the easiest to target.

That said, I wonder if TELUS might use this to shut down or consolidate certain parts of their business? Has happened in the past when I was under their employ. Anything up that you can share, spikerS?

Sounds like a pot brownie is right up your alley then. Will help you laugh at all the dumb shit on here, and then help you sleep.

I am in management with a telco. Our corp cards are being scrutinized a bit more, and asked to reduce spending, but we are already understaffed in my area, they can't get rid of anyone.

Anything I post on the topic of the BU and whatnot is PURE SPECULATION, I have zero inside knowledge as I left the BU over a year ago now, and have zero ties to it.

Having said that, listening to the radio this morning, the head of the union was cited as saying that he had no warning of impending layoffs, was pissed, and stated it was posturing as the current collective agreement is set to expire at the end of this year. Since the TWU merged with the steel workers union or whatever, it has some bite now, so it could very well just be that.

Anything more that is happening in the company that I am privy to, I am not sure what I am allowed to speak to publicly, so I will err on the side of caution and will stay quiet.

I can't speak to a lot, but I know we are safe as we implemented our cost cutting measures much earlier in the year, and we have been assured there won't be any more packages, at least in our area.

a friend that works in TCPL told me that they plan to do all the layoffs by nov 18th.

apparently contractors nov 12, and the rest of the staff by nov 18th....

traffic is down to 10 mins to work these days.....

I hope everyone takes advantages of the help that is needed/provided if you get laid off....
please don't flame me, or i'll have to learn how to use the ban button

I think I'd rather just stare at a wall before I ventured into Minecraft.
