More houses seem to be coming up on the market.

    Not much selling.

People's finances are really tight. They're probably going to start doing this at my wife's work, and some people are totally freaking out because a 20% pay cut will mean they're going to lose their house.

As a guy who took a 25% paycut, I had to seriously change my lifestyle. I was able to adapt and have learned to budget accordingly/ live BELOW my means. Which will benefit me once salaries come back up.

Yes, it is a major change, but they will get through it, and hopefully learn from their mistakes as I have.

People suck with money. Most people simply spend what they make. Saving? That's for chumps.

How do you think people are buying $1mm houses in Hillhurst? They're buying something that's right on the top end of what the bank says they can afford.

I feel bad, but really, sometimes lessons in stupidity have to be learned the hard way. That's what happens when you live beyond your means.

Whats even more sad is the fact that a 20% gross paycut means somewhere between a 10-12% net cut depending on if you are in the higher tax brackets.

Yup, a bunch of people were let go yesterday. It wasn't a massive layoff but still significant.

I've made it a recreational habit to check MLS listings sorted by date of listing every other day or so. There are literally a dozen or so listings every day within my price criteria, and there are always several listings being relisted with price reductions, some in the 15-20% range

    Sorry to hear, ExtraSlow
