^Agreed. Even though several indicators are riskier - higher debt, more delinquencies etc etc.

The Ontario ram deal was spectacular. Wish it was here
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."

Yeah, little restrictive though. Talked with a rep out there and you not only have to be an Ontario resident.. but you had to either be trading in a truck, or been a verifiable tradesperson (ie. red seal/bonded contractor) and had to be a personal lease, not business

If you own a truck (don't have to trade in) the deal here is around $220/month with about the same money up front as in Ontario deal. The V6 adds only about $10/month. I believe Varsity was the dealer mentioned that was on board.

As for the old topic of dealers poaching all the recession deals and then selling for more, here’s a decent example I just stumbled across:

Listed for $9500, definitely purchased for $9000 or less

Back up for sale at $12900

I have been hoping to snag some deals on the upper end luxury cars that just haven't been there.

10% unemployment yet no one seems to be selling.

It's like I been saying all along...there's still A LOT of gainfully employed people here and those who got laid off, a lot of them were well prepared...

News report a couple days ago said Calgary still has the highest employment rate..

Either he hasn't explained the deal very well... or he wants you to pay him his down payment and you have a shitty 12k kms/year lease for the equivalent of $1200/month

Ah thanks for double checking, I misinterpreted the ad. The $15,000 down payment was there the entire time, but I just assumed that was the amount he put in.

Was thinking 27x$650 + $40,000 is a crazy deal haha

Considering it's not the track pack or whatever and I know for a fact that you could get one for $1100ish a month with zero down (almost got one), this car is a recession rip off, not a deal.

He put $15k down, and is wanting around $12k back (shot him a quick message). How much would you offer him so that it is considered a good deal?

    Nothing. 12k km/yr is brutal.

With 27 payments remaining and a $40k buyout option, the car could be had for $57550 if he ate his entire deposit. That would be a great deal as this is probably worth around $70-75k market value.

Right. But since he won't eat his entire deposit, and looking at it from my point of view I'm going to put on 20-30k/yr, it becomes an awful deal.

Not saying it wouldn't work for someone, just wouldn't work for me
