Dune 2 makes you realize just how bad other movies are at CGI and even worse when things like Argylle spent more money.
Buster thinking Dune 1 was better was a bad take.

Worth it for the IMAX but man would be nice to have the recliner seats vs the shitty ones at Chinook

I finally saw Dune part 2 on the weekend. I was surprised how busy the cinema was. I've only seen maybe 3 movies in theatre since the covid lockdowns, so I don't know what the new normal is, but things seemed like its back to pre-covid busy. (this was at the South Edmonton Common Cineplex).

What can I say, the movie was excellent. It delivered, and was everything I expected it to be based on what we saw in Part 1. That said, there were still a couple missing characters and plot threads from the book, and the most significant change was the ending. It deviated on several aspects. (Can't get into details without spoilers). But its possible that part of the reason for some of the changes was to set things up better for a third movie (based on the 2nd novel Dune Messiah).
I saw it at the Chinook Imax over the weekend, it was absolutely packed.

Also never doing that again. I forgot how small the old style chairs are, Imax with small chairs < AVX with the recliners

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Oppenheimer and The Holdovers are horrible and boring. What kind of people were nominating these for the Oscars? Don't waste time on these movies.

Glad I read this, The Gentlemen somehow got past me, despite being a fan of all things Guy Ritchie. I'm only 1 ep in but loving it so far.

Anatomy of a Fall is basically unwatchable on Prime… and not just because it’s an artsy French film… but case there are no subtitles and half of it is in that weird frog language

Poor Things: that’s a fucking weird one. Thought naked Emma Stone would be good, but it’s somehow very not sexy

My kids watched the real people version of Avatar -The Last Air Bender and it's perfectly watchable. The dad from Kim's Convenience is in it.
The cartoon version of it is terrible and it's that style of animation that instantly makes me angry.

3 Body Problem is also really good. I haven’t read the book(s?) so I can stay a happy ignorant fool.

lol, I watch this all the time. good mindless stuff to have on in the background sometimes. Wife hates it.

The other one I watch is S.W.A.T. Again, mindless stuff although I've fallen off watching it.

I read that one of the things that the reason movies like Dune 2 and The Creator had awesome effects with half the budget of other movies is because of the strict storyboarding that Villeneuve and Edwards do. Their storyboards and scripts are known to be so detailed and so rigid (in a good way) that they rarely ever deviate when they start principal photography. In contrast, some movies have huge budgets because of constant script changes and studio feedback, which often leads to costly re-shoots and having to scrap and re-do costly CGI and other effects.

Jimmy makes me so mad, but he's exactly the kind of stupid character that Ritchie likes to write.

Love Seal Team. Got really mad though when they did a mid-season platform switch in, I think, season 6. They aired the first 2 episodes on CBS and then switched to Paramount+ for the rest of the season. Didn't care enough to switch until a few Christmases ago, when I got the free trial and binged it in a week.

Wholly agree. It's a great background show. Though, you can tell Shemar Moore has a lot of say (even for an EP) because of the number of hero shots and solo episodes he gets. haha.

Finished third season of War of the Worlds

Thoroughly enjoyed right to the end. Hard to find season 3 in the high seas though.
