Just came on Amazon the other day. Watched it. Enjoyed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Watched the new Grand Tour and I have to say while it wasn't that bad definitely something was missing. It was something like 2 hrs long and felt like it dragged a bit.
Started watching the first season of Resident Alien. Seems to be the perfect mix of adult dark humour and awkwardness, with a little sci-fi sprinkled in.
Great week so far - Dune 2, amazeballs, I'm going to be rewatching it in IMAX at least a couple more times.
Shogun - I've been waiting for this since I first read about the project. SO good so far, about the only good thing to come off the Disney channel in...forever. It's not really Disney, which is the secret sauce I guess. Just being shown there in Canada, so you don't need Hulu or FX. I remember watching the first Shogun in the very early 80s on cable TV, I was glued to the set as I had decided at that age, that my future career path was to be either a Ninja or a Samurai.
2024 Shogun is fantastic, truly must see TV IMO.
Just started "The Old Man" Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow. Pretty good so far.
Fighter jets are cool. I'm not enough of a sim nerd to get into DCS but I love this guys channel and how he explains tactics as he's flying/fighting
Sentry, I know Growling Sidewinder, he's a fellow Canadian BTW. He's done an excellent job of growing his channel, and yes, he's great at narrating his flying/fighting real-time in his vids. I've been working with Eagle Dynamics since my friend Carl Norman was the CEO of it and SSI gaming from way back in the late 90s (he works for DARPA now making secret things that fly around and blow things up). I still do QA testing with 2 of the teams under the Eagle Dynamics/DCS banner. Crazy how small a world it is online.
If you want to see some really exciting stuff, I'm friends with another guy whose company is making VR augmented reality headsets that pilots actually wear in flight over their helmets, which display any type of threat in the world, and allow them to train/fight against them in their actual fighter/helo while it's airborne, greatly reducing the cost of dissimilar air combat training, while expanding the inventory of types that can be trained against. One of the owners of this company, Red 6, used to be a film maker, and he as well as a team from the CBC embedded with our private military company for 2 weeks back when the Iraq thing was going on pre our Afghanistan involvement.

Oh that's sick, I had no idea!
My last two Tuesday movie nights have been for The Creator and Sisu. Both, I really liked.
The effects in The Creator are great, but they're not too splashy. I'm sort of on the fence about the final act, but overall, I thought it was great. And, generally, I think anything with Ken Watanabe in it is going to be really good.
Sisu is also great for a lot of reasons. It's a lean 90-minute movie, which is so rare these days with everyone so concerned with world-building. Despite having maybe a handful of lines throughout the whole movie, the main character does a great job doing the non-verbal things. Meanwhile, the villains do most of the heavy lifting with the dialogue.

Sisu was a great movie but too many never heard of it or liked it.
You spelled it wrong. The full title is "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou". You are welcome.

The Creator was fantastic IMO, I'm still saving Sisu for another couple of days - I've read a ton about Finland during WW2, primarily it's aviation branch, but this will be interesting too I'm sure.
GO SEE DUNE 2. It'll blow your hair back in IMAX, that's for sure. I bet it has a great opening weekend, it certainly deserves it.
I think it's closer to Finish RamboThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It is not, looks like there will be three in total at least and possibly a show. I went into it thinking there would only be two. Great movie though, liked it better than the first one on initial viewing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
