Got my sottozero3 from urbanx, will likely put them on this weekend before it gets too cold for my ass.
Anyone have recommendations for a 2015 4runner Trail? It's the family car...
Looking for winter tire recommendations for a 2016 Ram 1500. I do lots of high speed highway running on mostly dry roads, and do some driving on lease road gravel which seems to destroy tires. I'd like something I won't destroy on the 800km highway runs or on the gravel, but that will stick ok on the hard pack ice/snow lease roads. Factory has 20s, but I'm considering a 17" package for winter if I can find some take-off rims or some aftermarkets that don't look absolutely ghetto. If an all-weather tire is a better fit for my use, I'm open to that too.

Got my winters on today. Ricer replica wheels haha.
Michelin Xice 3s on sale at CT. Don't know if it's actually a good price relative to the size of the tire, but it seems ok considering they're top of the line and there's no shipping like Tirerack.

I've got those on my 2500 now, good traction but I'd say they're better than 1/3 used up after only 20k with a few big chunks missing from the tread from gravel. I was hoping for more than 40-50k tread life, and while they look great on my 2500, I thought they might look too aggressive on the 20s on a 1500 Longhorn.Originally posted by SkiBum5.0

Yeah the gravel is tough on any tire, but I think the AT will provide the best defense. Have you tried the new BFG K02? I just ordered some but apparently the biggest improvements were to winter traction and gravel durability. Maybe check them out?Originally posted by carson blocks

Longhorn is a nice truck

I can't say I love the idea of 235/50R18 tires on an EVO X. If you want to go the tall/skinny route it would be better to use a 225/45R18 or even 235/45R18. The 235/50 is really tall and will likely rub the front fender liners, plus it will look pretty odd in a rally kind of way.
So since the GSI5's don't come in 245/40/18 or 235/45/18, would the Garit's be a better alternative? How do those compare to blizzaks, GSI5s or x-ices?
I found Garit KX's 235/45/18 for a similar price to the GSI5's. About $5 or so a tire difference.

What is some good recommendations for winter tires in either 255/45/18 or 255/40/19.
Stock wheels are 19s but I know 18" rubber is so much cheaper that it usually offsets most of the cost of buying new rims.
Its for my mustang that gets commuted 100km a day down the #1 hwy so most of it is clear pavement but most of my issues is getting through town when there is a thick fresh blanket and I'm usually the first to forge through it...
To be fair I did all of last winter on a set of 315/30/20 summer performance tires so really anything would be an improvement....
Costco has some sales on right now. I'm deciding between the Xi3 and the WS80 (they only sell 3 for my size anyway).
Are the Xi3 worth $55 more per tire?
I drive around Calgary and on the highway from Calgary to Okotoks for work everyday. The Blizzaks wear worry me having only 60% of tread with their "winter" compound right?
Edit: I should add, I'm driving a turbo AWD car, Subaru Legacy.

I had the pleasure of running into slush on the highway in my S2000 this morning with Bridgestone RE71R...
Madatory winter tires I say!
When's everyone planning on switching? I was thinking another weekend or two away.
Halloween.
