She says she knows the accused and that they used to be close friends.

“That was years ago, we were great friends. Like it tears me apart knowing friends would do something like that,” she said. ”We were just close friends and I haven’t talked to him in three years.”

"I never physically dated him, we were friends," said Dunbar.

This was from ctv news but it totally reminded me of this

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

So, let's ask this oh great one. Would you want a convicted paedophile live next door to you?
What kind of stupid question is that?
All he was stating was that the cost of a death sentence costs more than a life time of incarceration.
Sure a bullet between the eyes would be the best answer, unfortunately that won't and doesn't ever happen.

    Thank you Seth.

Additionally, It's worth noting that such behavior is an element in PTSD - You bottle it up to get through, and then when it's all over and that shaken bottle gets uncapped....

Cost lol. My nuance betrays me.

What is the cost of a child's rape and murder?

Well hopefully he gets his just desserts in prison, but more than likely nothing will happen. He'll serve his time along with all the other multitude of sickos in there.

I'm curious though...why you keep mentioning "rape" and "pedophilia". Are you referring to this case? I don't remember reading anything that would suggest that.

I realize 1st degree murder charges are automatic in any type of sexual assault, but it's also involved when forcible confinement and kidnapping is involved.

I'm thinking there was a fight between the two guys, Terry was killed, Saletsky panics and murders her so she can't identify him. Then tries to destroy the body.

Its not just the interview though..

If your child was missing, would you be posting status updates on facebook? If i heard my ex was dead and my child missing, my first call would be to the RCMP or Police, not stating "I dont know anything, im in Edmonton"

If i heard any family member was dead or missing, i sure as fuck would not be posting about it on facebook or any social media...

I dunno, thats just me and my opinion.... Im not saying she had anything to do with it, but for how messed up this world is, nothing really surprises me anymore. Just to many weird things going on with this..

Still RIP to the little girl

So on the reddit thread about this someone commented that even though the mother states she hasnt seen or heard from the killer in 3 years she has a photo of him on her mobile uploads on facebook from november last year. Or atleast it looks like him.

This photo I think they are referring to:

    https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...32&oe=56640C8F

    Her facebook is very open.

Will be an interesting case, not sure i'd want to be on the jury though. My little girl looks very similar to their little girl, same age too.

Her whole story is bizarre. "Just an old friend, forgot about him, havent seen in ages" Etc. That's odd.

It certainly doesn't pass the sniff test.

OTOH, I can't readily think of a more plausible narrative.

Perhaps ex-wife asked ex-boyfriend to kill ex-husband, and it went south?

Do you also think that her father is trying to protect her somehow.

On his interview at the start he says she hasnt seen him for 3 years and then a few mins later he said its been over 4 years.

The whole town can name the murder suspect when they heard whose kid is involved.

Either that's how small towns are or the link isn't nothing.

My dad has some staff that lives Blairemore and knew the deceased father. Apparently he was mixed up with some questionable people as well. Doesn't look good for the wife though, it looks like a case of having gotten a former flame to off her ex and it went south from there. Of course, that's just my distant internet interpretation.

Several things (mostly mentioned) don't really add up for me either. I'm sure if it stinks to us, the public, that the police are on it.

I'm not convinced that the child would be killed so she couldn't identify the guy either, Dave. She's 2 years old, right? Unless she is some sort of prodigy, I can't imagine a 2 year old could even be put on the stand, let alone provide accurate testimony.

I think that either this guy was in a maniacal state where he absolutely wanted to kill and destroy everything and everyone in that house, or he was asked and convinced to do so.

I think she was going to be 3 in december so if she recognized the killer then it might be possible to identify him. However I have a kid the same age and when ever I ask her something unknown to me I always get the wrong answer ie

ME: Is your sister asleep in the car seat

    Her: yes daddy

    Baby: cries

If the kid was on the stand and the prosecuter said - was this man derek the one that killed your daddy, the kid would almost 100% say yes imho

My point is simple. If this is about costing the taxpayer less, execution doesn't do it.

Myself I'm in favour of the death penalty, but I don't rationalize it through costs.

My almost-3-year-old daughter can most certainly identify my wife and my friends by name.

Wouldn't be surprised if he killed the dad and THEN realized the girl was in the house or something. Then he panicked and realized had to deal with the daughter who witnessed the first murder.

The mom also seemed WAY too composed and nonchalant in talking to the media that quickly. If it happened to me I would have just released a statement to be read by a friend of family member.

Yea and that fake cry was crap. Just a cry face with no tears. If you don't show external emotion, that's fine, I get it. When you fake it like that...makes me think something is up.
