    Default Left Lowbeam Socket Melted

My left lowbeam went out a couple of days ago. When I went to replace them I noticed that one of the pins from the socket was melted. The new bulb didn't light up, however a couple of days later it was working and now its back to not working.

I took a photo of the socket but what I want to know is how I should replace this. Do I just get a new one and replace the old one with it by cutting the old one off and soldering the new one on? Also where would I get the socket for the headlight? I checked the Pick N Pull in Edmonton, but there were no Corollas of that generation. Would the dealership be able to order me one?

    Thanks

With Toyota Harness's for headlights its easier to go to Napa or Partsource and have them select the socket. Simply show them the style of headlamp bulb (H4 etc) and they will give you one to solder in.

Make sure you're putting the correct bulb in. If it's melting the connector, I suspect it's getting too hot for a reason.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Probably drawing too much power. Make sure your bulbs are the correct wattage. For example don't run a 100W bulb when 55W is stock. You should have a fuse that will blow before this happens though, make sure it's of the proper rating.

The bulbs in there were from the previous owner. I bought correct wattage bulbs from CT when I swapped them. Ill head to PartSource and see if they have the socket and check for any blown fuses.

When I was still in Calgary I would. Part of the Air Cadets glider crew that operates out of there. In Edmonton I usually fly out of Villeneuve.

For some reason I was thinking Vulcan... Mixing up my V's lol. I USED to fly out of Vulcan, now occasionally Villeneuve when I'm not busy with school.
