Is it possible that other places get a clean bill of health because we are shouldering the dirty work for them?

...The major reasons for Canada’s poor showing, he said, were pulling out of the Kyoto Protocol and having one of the highest levels of greenhouse gas production per capita. Canada also has low gasoline taxes , which don’t encourage conservation, and high subsidies for fishing, which impacts fish stocks.
Good, I need to fill up the tank soon. Damn gas taxes.. /shakes fist.
    Signatures are dumb..

So because we are net oil and gas producers, and other states are net consumers, we are worse. Got it..

"Countries such as Russia, China, India and Brazil are not included in the survey because they are not members of the OECD group."

    But yeah, dead last.

Once again emissions per capita is used as the metric

The ozone layer does not care how many people you have, the only metric that should be used is emissions per km2. Using that metric, Canada ranks as one of the lowest.

Not to mention our environmental regs are a MUCH higher standard than many other countries.

That is what I got from the article as well.

Guess who is second last... the USA... the world's biggest oil producer.

So in reality we likely came in 13th overall in the world.

Not bad considering there are 196 countries on earth.

    Spot on.

We have pretty much become a resource trading country and as such will always be punished in the environmental rankings.

I find it hard to believe that the Americans are ranked above us in that regard. Anyone familiar with the reclamation and abandonment process in the states this is a flabbergasting proposition.

I believe per capita is the only metric that makes sense.

Why should one group of people feel entitled to pollute more than another group?

What special standing was granted to me, that I can dump 60 pounds of mercury a year, and some other individual can only dump 6....?

Denying the importance of per capita anything (gdp, pollution, debt) is frankly stupid. Its also selfish, and leaning towards psychopathic self entitlement.

What kind of cars do you drive?

Because if I remember correctly, you have a viper SRT-10, sr20 240sx, 5.0L mustang and a diesel pickup?

All vehicles with very poor fuel economy... No?

Come on Vengie, its obvious that the conservative party of canada is by far the largest polluter in Canada, and individual use is inconsequential. Oh wait doesn't that discredit the per capita argument. Hmmm

    Oh yeah?

    That would be cool.

    Fuck off.

Small minds like you cannot comprehend, that even if I traded in my actual daily driver for a prius, would make fuck all for difference. The issue is POLICY, and large scale implementation.
