    Default Turing Phone

Anyone heard about this new Android device that will be coming out in a few months?

    http://turingphone.com

I noticed it when they first announced it and they opened pre-orders in July. I put my name in for the reservation and now they are finally starting to collect payments of whatever you ordered. Expected delivery is December.

I am a little double minded now as to if I want to go ahead with it or not as there is very little information about what exactly it's all about software wise. I like the look of it and that's the reason I booked one. Only 10,000 units are being produced and 3,000 for the final version.

The most expensive version so far is the special edition which is 128gb and $999US. They start at $610 I believe for regular versions though at 16gb. Apparently there is one more special edition that is going to be announced next month and I am going to wait to see what that is like before I go ahead with one of them.

This is what their final version being introduced next month is supposed to look like. The Gold bits are going to be 24K gold.

For me the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a total deal breaker. The security and durability is interesting though. I could see this being a niche phone for celebrities or high ranking government officials.

Yup the lack of headphone jack is a bit of a let down although the DW version comes with a bluetooth headphone as part of the package. I am still debating if I want to order it or pass on it.

Why the hell would any modern phone come out without a headphone jack? The argument could be made from the people who buy it that they don't use for music, but it's a staple in modern phones. It's like having a smartphone without bluetooth or without a built in camera. They're staples nowadays. For that reason alone, no matter how fancy and packed with special security features it is, I would not even consider it.

That extra security is not even a consideration of mine when looking for a phone. Like Kris said, unless you're a high ranking government official, celebrity who takes nude selfies, or a CEO with some sort of inside information you don't want leaking, who really needs that extra security. If someone really wants to, I'm sure they can still hack this phone.

I'm sure they'll sell out though. Alot of people love that exclusivity and gimicky marketing (i.e., liquidmorphium? )

lol like a high ranking government official or a celebrity is going to buy a gimicky android phone.

There is a reason why the president, as an example. is briefed in paper or by word of mouth.

Any reasonable person will use a blackberry or an iphone with icloud backups disabled, exchange, and a strong pass code.

We can chalk that up to difference of opinion then

This. I'm not an all out audiophile but I do like decent to good sound quality. My point is, even if you don't use it, it's old technology and would be cheap as hell to include. It's a staple that every other phone on the market includes so it's stupid not to include it.

And that is exactly why I am thinking of going ahead with it. Cause pretty much the only place I use headphone from the phone is in the gym, but I do have bluetooth headphones too so it's not a huge deal. Also, the phone is supposed to come with them.

I think I will go ahead with the Dark Wyren version because the Dark Wyren Gledr ($1299) is Blue and Gold as posted above and looks kinda cheesy. The Black and very little Gold looks quite nice.

They also have 3 (much cheaper) Series 1 phones in 3 different variations. Apparently they are also building an armor case for these phones which will have a headphone jack and USB port and capable of transferring data at 5G speeds.
