People will try to sue for anything.

Well of course it's not the driver's fault....

Maybe there is a point here?
It also installed the model's seat belts in such a way that when the car fractured on impact, the shoulder belt anchor was yanked along with the rear engine compartment while the seat belt anchor stayed put. This snapped Walker's torso back with thousands of pounds of force, thereby breaking his ribs and pelvis, flattening his seat and trapping him in a supine position, where he remained alive until the vehicle erupted into flames one minute and 20 seconds later,” the lawsuit alleges.
    And...
Walker's daughter accuses Porsche of trimming the vehicle's weight by installing side door reinforcement bars made of a weaker material than is used in more common cars, such as the Honda Civic, and of using a fuel hose that lacked fittings that would break free if the car were in a crash. Instead, the hose tore and helped create a fire
    Maybe some valid arguments there...
“She's a teenage girl who is still dealing with the tragic loss of her father,” the statement said. “The bottom line is that the Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn't belong on the street.”
No shit it's dangerous. Anyone who knows anything about cars knows the reputation of the Carrera GT as being notoriously difficult to drive. But it passed crash tests, was road legal and anyone who wanted to drive one would know that it's not to be messed with.
Didn't Porsche provide a noticed when selling one stating that it was a very difficult car to drive and it should never be driven in wet conditions? I thought I remember hearing about something like that...

Ya...that was Porsches fault for sure.

    Walker would be ashamed.

Porsche has already settled before on CGT crash/deaths. Wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again to close the situation out quickly.

The CGT is a tough car to drive hard, but it's not the toughest car to drive hard. That being said, Porsche even introduced a new spec PSS for the CGT to make it easier to drive a couple of years ago, so they know what kind of a challenge the car is to owners.

The car Walker was driving in had been used sparingly through its life. At the time of the crash, the car still wore the original tires it was supplied with when new (likely manufactured in 2004), which means the tires were ~10 years old.

Old, hard rubber + double the speed limit + lamp post = exactly what happened.

If he hit a lamp post and died at 150kph in a 10 yr old Volvo, would anybody be assuming it was the car's fault. Of course not, and the end result would probably be the same in the world's safest automobile.

What's a PSS, is that Porsche-speak for an ECU?

I first read this and thought you were kidding. Googled it. Holy shit. They actually provided a new make of tire to try and make this car more manageable? That's wild.

Lawsuit says Porsche never remedied the instability (lack of easy mastering) of the car. Implying they should have put an ESC on it. Guess what setting it would have been in with Paul Walker in shotgun and a trained driver in the captain's chair? It would have been off. Would not have made a difference.

How do they have any prof of these claims? Why not sue to people who make the street posts as well.

Beyond never jokes about Pilot Super Sports. They are legit.

the benefit to putting a default stability control system is that you have to make the conscious effort to turn it off which helps liability significantly. Same reason why most modern sports cars require either a combination of button presses or a very ling button press to disable the nannies. If they can at all.

Porsche didn't really make a new tire (if you read their PR it kinda sounds like it). Michelin already had a PSS in the CGT size, Porsche simply blessed it with an OEM designation, issued a press release, and told everyone to use that instead moving forward. It was an easy way for them to make the car better/easier without lifting a finger.
