I see 205/45/17 RE-71R also now available for the budget conscious who want to run OEM wheels.

Tire Rack is the only place I can find these, ~$1200 CAD set womp womp.

Is 2.3lbs less unsprung weight per corner worth $400 USD to me for going with the OZ Ultraleggera over the Sparco Assetto Gara?

At bigger events where championships are won by hundredths and thousandths?

If you are on any kind of budget, obviously the Sparco's offer better value. If you just have money to burn, then OZ all the way! I went with the J10's myself, kind of in the middle.

But, cheaper tires on cheap rims = more seat time
Yeah I read about the centre cap melt situation. I didn't realize you had the J10s, I might go with those. I think they were like 0.3lb lighter than the Sparcos and cheaper too!

My car is 12-16 weeks away estimated so I have lots of time to decide on wheels at least.

With so many people, it looks like their format only allows for 3 runs in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. So I will have to figure out what kind of grip the site has, optimal tire pressures, and course layout style all on the fly. It also looks like the club has some very competitive drivers, so I really have my work cut out for me

Really looking forward to the event and meeting some of the locals. Plus I have a fresh set of tires for my debut and the car is feeling as solid as ever. There are even 7 other cars in my class finally!
Mostly asians? You'll be fine haha.

Good luck keep us posted how you do and how the competition is down there.

The fastest drivers are usually old white guys. Asians range from quite decent to slow ricers.

VCMC has a ton of good drivers, so coming any place close to the top should make you feel "worthy" As for old white guys vs asians, VCMC doesn't seem to follow that "rule" in any way.

Nice showing for your first event there Nick -- keep working at it, since I think you belong in the top ten. Of course, when SASC dudes show up, you will be bumped back down :P

Well, they don't have any excuse, since they use exactly the same software as we do (mine)

I think they also have a router on-site, so you should be able to use your phone to get results as soon as you get back from a run.

The OPAX (short for Open PAX), is a scoring variant to show how well you would have done at a big event where you only get 3 runs for the entire day (e.g. Lincoln).

As for single best run of the day (VCMC) vs sum of morning plus afternoon (SASC/CSCC), that is at the discretion of the organizers. For example, this Sunday we scored morning only, afternoon only, and the sum of the two. We did this because a bunch of rookies only ran on the main course in the afternoon, and I didn't want them to all show as DNS.

The biggest advantage of doing our way (sum of two sets), is that it allows us to make course changes at the halfway point. It also tends to average out cold morning plus warmer afternoon times.
