    Those prices tho.....

Dedicated GPU appears to add $250 to the price.
You can customize the surface though finally!!!!!

Could a Surface Pro 4 comfortably edit 24 to 50 MP photos without being laggy?

If not the surface book with the screen reversed looks like an awesome way to edit photos on the couch.

so is the surface book that different from the surface pro when detached?

Seems like a pretty compelling package.

I'll have to wait and see how the cooling on the i7 is. Despite my pro 3 being faster than my pro 2 on paper, it was actually slower due to the constant thermal throttling. On my desk I have an external fan blowing on it which is the only way to get decent performance out of it. The cooling on the pro 4 looks pretty much the same.

Really the prices are not out of line with what the SP3 launched at. My SP3 with i7/8gb/512gb was $2K us. The SP4 is $2.2k for the same specs and 16gb ram. The biggest change is the exchange rate.

These are enterprise devices, not iPad replacements.

I somehow do not think Microsoft can command the same appeal, and as such pricing, as Apple.

This pricing is why I still use a 7 year old laptop. Can't justify the amount of money an upgrade would command.

I don't think you have a good grasp on the kinds of devices enterprises actually use...

Yea but a stupid number of people get issued iPads in my experience. Vast majority of tablet devices.

Surfaces ime are niche devices issued because someone requested one explicitly.

Personally i love surfaces, the concept at least, to rich for my blood for what they are imo. But i like them.

All the people I know who bought surfaces for personal use are people who also bought zunes lol. because fuck apple lol.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not saying that Surfaces have always been enterprise devices, because the 1-3 certainly weren't marketed that way, but the 4 is. Both Apple and MS are seeing the enterprise tablet market open and have released products to compete in it.

Your 2 years of non-IT experience at one company?

Not that you're wrong, you'll likely see more iPads than Surfaces everywhere, but the market is shifting, which was my point.

Yes my experience, a few of my IT friends experience, other professional friends and families experience.

Many iPad's issued, I know of one surface and they returned it for a normal laptop after a few weeks. For my friends in IT ( one of which owns a surface for personal use ) they have told me that not only have they never issued one but that they don't even support their use to due supply deals with OEMs like HP, Dell, etc.

iPads don't count and are easy to manage for any enterprise that already issues iPhones.

So not really that out of the loop at all.

Like you said, I'm not wrong.
