Default Another case for Beyond CSI - Stolen Porsche

I received a message from a friend who had his car stolen. He is hoping that someone here will spot the car or has any information that can help. His message is:

My friends, I need your help. Something with huge sentimental value was recently taken from us and we want it back badly. We were victims of a B&E on Wed. Sept. 30th, 2015. Items stolen from our home were computers, luggage and cash. Those items can be replaced but what can't be is the emotional attachment we have to our car which we've made amazing vacation memories with over the past 11 years of owning it. Most special were the first kms we put on it while we were breaking it in on the German Autobahn and 4 other European countries when it was brand new. The B&E occurred just 6 days after returning from a month long, 10,000km trip with it to the south western US as far south as Phoenix AZ. On this trip we experienced such beautiful and exciting things such as the Bear Tooth Highway, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, Route 66 and Zion Canyon with it. At the time of the B&E and theft of our car, I was in the office for the last time packing up my stuff as I was laid off from my engineering company. Talk about having a rough day....

Please if you can, forward this out to everyone that you know. Calgary police suggest the car may have been abandoned shortly after they used it as a getaway car and may be sitting on a street somewhere in Calgary. Just no one has reported it yet. I'm trying to better our chances of ever seeing it again and want as many eyes possible keeping a lookout for it. The license plates may have already been swapped so the VIN is the only sure way to tell it's our car.

I know it sounds silly but our car feels like a family member and we desperately want it back with us where it belongs.

    We thank you in advance...

    Jeff & Ileane

Just an update from the owner:

Oh man, getting real discouraged here. We're now past the 3 week mark and zero sightings or leads. I've heard from 911 owners who's cars have been stolen and they usually all turned up within the first 2 weeks. Why isn't an eleven year old Boxster turning up yet? Really perplexed what the guy is doing/has done with my car. Not sure what to think anymore. Thought time would help but looking at that empty spot in my garage seems to be getting harder all the time.

Unreal that it hasn't turned up in a neighbourhood yet. This isn't a "special" car (beyond being incredibly special to them) so you wouldn't think it would be on a shipping list or anything.

Odds are it is sitting in a parkade, at the airport or on a street somewhere in Calgary. If my street was not cleaned by the city once or twice a year, I doubt some of those parked cars would ever be moved or towed. Almost time to post up some posters around town... works for dogs and cats.

    When do the plates expire?

That is uncalled for. I will politely ask that you remove this post from this thread as the intent is to help find their car - not comment on if it meets your standards.

Fixedgear is just some jealous piece of crap that can't afford a nice car, pay him no attention.

On topic: lots of people have security systems with outside cameras, chance a neighbours system may have seen something? Has the victim talked to neighbours? Sounds like this happened during the daytime, can't believe nobody saw anything.

Wow that totally sucks. I read the news article and the owner's post and I can understand the attachment they must feel to this vehicle after having owned it for this long and making all those memories. I hope they find it soon and there's nothing wrong with it. Also hope that he finds a new job here soon if he hasn't already found one. Good luck guys.

UPDATE: Got a message from the owner. Car was recovered. A 70 year old man registered it in Crossfield and was most likely an unsuspecting victim. RCMP confiscated the vehicle and it was brought to Calgary. Will let you know more when I know more.

Wow! Someone sat on it for a year before trying to off load it! Patience is king I guess to wait for the heat to die off...

Too bad for the old guy...I wonder how much he is out on it.

Unreal. Very cool that the owners have a chance at driving the car again.

Glad that the vehicle was recovered! Hopefully it's still in good shape and none the worse for wear

No such luck. The car is damaged and not driveable currently. The old guy bought it at a storage locker auction.

will the owners get the car back? insurance is the likely owner now. the only winner here is the insurance company, and the thief.

Don't think the thief benefited financially if it was purchased from a storage locker auction.

Only winner is the thief which get to job ride this into the ground for a year.
